Hi everyone
I thought a prudent warning to pet owners would be appropriate
after my misadventure this morning.
I came downstairs this morning and when I entered the living room,
I found my beloved build on the floor. Fortunately, only the gallery support
brackets had been broken off in the fall and all the dry-fitted pieces of deck
scattered around the floor.
Our micheivious cat had been up on the shelf where I store my build, and knocked it
flying some three feet to the floor.
When I told her off, she gave me that "I didn't do it!" look and exited the cat flap at a
fair rate of knots. (No, my foot was not up her rear, although I felt like doing so)Cursing
I feel fortunate that not more was broken which does show how strong these wooden kits
are.
Anyway I hope that any of you shipmates with curious felines will take heed of this unfortunate tale and take the neccessary steps to protect your hard work from the fate that befell me.
Well now to spend next few hours making good.
Happy building

That happened to me on my Bounty build but at a much later stage. I had just finished the rigging and one or both of my cats eat the crosstrees and shrouds. It took me nearly three months to rectify it. No I didn't kill the cats but I was close.
Good luck with the rebuild. If they misbehave again try a cat of nine tails!

it would also be advisable that any parts that when chewed or swallowed are kept in a container or well out of reach. we dont want our pets being injured because of our builds. and i think it goes without saying never leave blades and alike laying around.

Good point by Secretreeve. These builds could be deadly to our small furry friends. Sharp blades, superglue - remember vets bills are not cheap.

So far I have just about stopped the cat from chewing to death the rib tops on my build. cannot thinks why a cat wants to chew wood when he has his whiska's BigGrin

They could be quite nasty to small children as well. I have a habit of letting my young daughter into the modelling room, trying to instil the 'Look but don't touch' rule into her, while I'm there, but keep it locked while I'm not modelling.

Apparently, Don't touch ! only means for the next minute or so.......

I would also like to mention that your partners or wives can also be dangerous!!!

1, If you upset them, you may find your model has been sabotaged and sunk.
2, Some curtains in the gun ports would look nice love, but I just cant get the scale right, so I''m leaving them out if that's ok!
3, Your idea of pink sails to match our curtains sounds good, but I was going to leave the model without sails to show off the rigging!
4, WIFE - I have found you some small eggs from the kids playthings. ME - what are they for? WIFE - for the crows nest love, it look bare without them. Blink

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY

Do not attempt to cut anything with the wife in the same room

WIFE - Oooo watch you dont cut yourself
Me - Im ok babe............................................. Ouch!!!! Cursing Cursing Cursing Cursing Pass me the first aid kit babe Glare

Luckily, I have no animals around the flat to damage my HMS Victory build. But I do have a nephew who has just mastered crawling - by the time the vessel is almost complete, I can imagine him climbing all over the place to grab it!Crying
