Hi there rashaad430 and welcome to the forum. Yes, it is worth it in the long run as you get a good quality model at the end of it all plus all the perks that come with the build. This is my third build of this kind, I'm not what you call a newbie or professional, but I'm damn proud of what I've done so far and the pleasure you get out of it is endless...hope you enjoy your build... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Hi Rashaad430 Like you I wasn't sure, watched the dvd, still wasn't 100%, put the 1st bits together and now I just cant wait to get my hands on the next issue. I put the bow and canon away so as not too keep playing with it - I just hope the CNA doesn't screw up this project for me, dont want to only receive my issues every 4 weeks if I am lucky. Current build : The Victory Pending builds : none - yet Built loads of bikes trucks planes and boats - all plastic kits. on wish list - a 1:24 spitfire, in wood, plastic, just as long as I can build it :)

Are paints included in the subscription? I read somewhere that u hav the option to include a cutaway section to see the decks below.. Does this mean cutting into the side or can the sides of the hull b reattached after?

Does this mean cutting into the side or can the sides of the hull b reattached after? Hi and welcome to the forum. The paints are not supplied with the kit, but can be bought from Deag or other model outlets. There is an option to build the kit with a cut out for the gun deck, and there are separate instructions for that. So I would guess that once you start on the cut out it would be difficult to go back. But from what I can gather from the build and from the forum, the gun deck can be built as a separate diorama!! I am not building with the cut out, but I will be painting it and I will build the diorama to go with it!! Hope this helps. Jack Sparrow. (Captain)

In my reading on the forum pages I did come across someone who was going to attempt to make the cut-away but enable it to have the hull piece replaced so he could display either model. I am thinking of encasing my model in a glass case once done to protect from dust etc so I am going to make a solid hull, and might make the diorama. Wilberforce wrote:@ Jack Sparrow (Captain) where did you get the Black pearl kit from? Is it as detailed as this? I found the Black Pearl on e-bay for £150 all in. Its a good basic kit, and from the pics I have seen a very nice ship, but being a big Pirates fan I am modifying and scratch building as I go to make it as authentic as possible to the film version. If you look in 'Other Builds' on this forum, you can follow my build. Its my in between build to the Victory. And this is my first ever attempt at a wooden ship too!!!
