Got this on Ebay....actually I foolishly in my excitement bid on two, thinking I'd be lucky to get one...so I may have to find a good home for the second one.

I believe they stopped making these in the 70s, so it's a bit of a time capsule. As others have said, Pocher kits are a bit fiddly compared to the DeAgostini kits....lots of flash to trim and other fitment adjustments.

I started by copying the relic of instruction manual so I could make notes and lay out pages for multiple references. Then I started locating, kitting and prepping the parts called out for each subassembly. Right now I'm waiting for some paint, some coming via post and others hoping to be had at Hobby Lobby. They say the plastic parts are molded in correct colours and don't require painting unless you want more realism....duh...for that much time, effort and money I'm going for full effect.

These Pocher cars are a blast to build. The wire wheels will drive you batty. I would recommend getting a tap so you can tap the holes instead of using the self tapping screws. That way you can disassemble the car. There are some great aftermarket parts and a really good CD by Marvin Heit on how to really go all the way and detail this kit. I think the websites is modelmotorcars.com.

Pocher is actually back in business. They have made a Lamborghini model that looks really nice.

Gary, If you want to do ANYTHING extra, I cannot recommend Marvin at Model Motorcars enough! The sets he has are fantastic! I have a Leggenda e Passione Mille Miglia Alfa conversion that is progressing VERY slowly. (sort of a glacial crawl) I'd get a set of his Alfa wheels though. They are vastly superior to the Pocher ones, and the tires (tyres??) are actually usable!

I've seen sites offering all sorts of Pocher bits...wheels, tires and interior kit's look enticing.

Well...I'm going to have to put this project on hold for a few months. We are into our hot, humid season and my shiny Italian Red paint goes flat before it dries completely.

I was also diagnosed with colon cancer towards the end of May....but so far it hasn't interfered too much....aside from daily radiation treatments (for a total of 25 sessions) and having to wear a portable chemo infusion pump 24/7 for that period.

Sorry to hear of your health problem and hope your treatment goes well.

Looks a nice start, but don't worry about putting it on hold, as would be a shame to mess it up for the sake of getting on with it.

Looking good Gary and sorry to hear about your health problems.. As has been mentioned, rather leave it for a bit than rush such a beautiful kit..

Thanks! It is a lot more fiddly to build than these nice Deagostini kits. Of course they didn't have computers to aid in the design and manufacture back then.

Gary

Wish you all the best with your treatments and a speedy recovery. Difficult times I know but keep positive and remember you have lots of best wishes from so many friends.

Your model looks great. I have seen these kits but sadly are out of my price range. Really looking forward to see how you progress with this one - you have made a brilliant start.

It's always so interesting to listen to some of the obstacles modellers have in different countries: my limited knowledge of travel would see me green with envy thinking how lucky you are to have wonderful weather to paint. Never considered humidity issues. Bit like my home town of swindon here tonight - supposed to be summer and it's raining - you should see the snails tonight enjoying my bedding plants Cursing

Take care, be positive and enjoy modelling.

Best wishes

Tony
