Hi Guys

I am about to start my build and have a few questions regarding Paint. Keep in mind I am a first timer :-)

- What sort of paint should I be using for the HMS? Would Humbrol do?
- Is there any local SA site where I can purchase these?
- Any prep needed before painting?

Any info / links would be a great help!

Thanks
Wilberforce

Hi Aaron
Welcome to the build, looks like most of us in this forum, the SA forum are new builders. I have done a bit of research both on the build forum and at a local hobby shop. I have been advised that the best are acrylics, these are water based and use a primer on the metal parts before painting. Best thing about the acrylics are that they are water based so no foul odours in a confined space and they are quicker drying. So far the black and ochre colours have been fine except the ochre I got is a little too brown, need to find a better yellow ochre before I go too far. Hope this helps and if you discover any other helpful tips I would love to know them too.
Current build : The Victory
Pending builds : none - yet
Built loads of bikes trucks planes and boats - all plastic kits.
on wish list - a 1:24 spitfire, in wood, plastic, just as long as I can build it :)

aaron, their are very good threads already on here 'bout painting and prep work, just go to index of threads, and you'll find all manner of tricks and tips and even walkthroughs on every part that has come up so far,so just do a bit of mouse hopping and you will learn an awful lot, then make up your mind which way you want to build her.
