OCCRE LOCOMOTIVE BASE KIT (SMALL):

In order to provide a method of displaying the Adler and Rocket locomotive kits Occre produce a small track display base for this purpose.
With the Adler kit it is possible to add the 3 coach set and for this you would need the larger Locomotive Basing Kit that Occre produce. This larger kit will be subject to an individual review.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

1. The first thing you will notice about these kits is the weight. The
small base kit contains 1065 grams of grey ballast. That said full
credit to Occre who have provided a much stronger box for these kits
than is necessary for some of their other model.

2. Within the box you receive the following parts:

1 x MDF display base
3 x lengths angle strip wood with which to make the base surround.
This is plain (not of excellent quality in my examples) which you
can stain, varnish or paint depending on personal preference.
1 x pack rock ballast. The instructions would have you using PVA to
stick this to the base board. Should be an interesting process.
(Weight of this bag is 1065 grams)
1 x pack pre-cut wood strip for the sleepers. These are plain wood
and require staining.
1 x pack cast metal rails
1 x pack “sleeper shoes” into which the rails slide. These are cast
parts and will require some minor clean up to get them to sit
flat on the sleepers.
1 x Plan. This is a paper print of the sleeper and track layout which
the instructions would have you glue to the base board in order
to affix the other parts on top. Unsure of this as gluing onto
what would become a paper surface is not going to be as strong
as gluing directly onto the wood base.

3. The size of this base is listed as being 200mm x 400mm

SO WHAT DO THESE PARTS LOOK LIKE?
