My fist issue arrived! This is my first EVER attempt at a wooden model. I've built plastic models and built RC car kits, but nothing ever to this degree. I'm excited to get started, and as you can see in the pics not much but the jig and the forward bulkhead glued to the bow keel. As I get going I'll post more interesting photos. I hope I can do this forum justice by making a quality Vic. I'm sure I'll be reaching out for help! Looks like a great start there Barry, I always enjoy following these wooden ship build logs. Wont be long and I will be in the same boat as you and starting my first ever wooden ship, albeit the Santisima Trinidad. Look forward to seeing more of your build

Here's today's progress. Man, I didn't realize how small that cannon is! How many more of these are there?[ Everything looks straight, so I'm happy with that. I've not glued the ribs as instructed. I just wanted to get a sense of the ship coming into shape. Now onto the anchor and the launch. Everything looking good so far Barry, love the cannon BTW, you asked how many more...only 18 full cannons in total plus 2 carronades, all the rest are dummy barrels. Steve

Thanks for the info on the cannons Steve I'm glad you like the cannon. I was a little worried as the ring at the end was broken off the cannon and I had to super glue it back. As I'm still waiting for the paint to arrive, I've decided to leave the cannon in its natural state. I'm actually liking the look of the brass. I thought it a shame to have to paint it black. I will be painting the ship in its original colors. I believe this way it will allow me to put on my own personal touch to the build. experten wrote:Looking good so far! Thanks Mark. Im working on the Launch now. Building the jig was easy. Sanding the jig was a little nerve racking. I was afraid I was going to sand too much. But I did some test fits with the Planks and looks good. I'll be gluing them today. Barry Well done on a brilliant start to your model. Deciding if you do or if you don't is exactly what modelling a bout and however you choose to finish your model will give you something very unique to you. Hope the rest of your build goes well. Happy modelling Tony Happy Modelling
