Nice work Mark - the engine bay is certainly looking busier now with all the little extras and it's things like scratch-building that makes a build even more fun than it already is 'out of the box' don't you think? I wouldn't worry too much about whether things are accurate as like you say, reference photos for modern cars are few and far between with F1 being so 'secret' nowadays, so unless you invite an ex-McLaren technician to tea, who's going to know - as long as it looks believable then it'll be fine and nobody is likely to question the accuracy? The only thing I would say is don't go overboard on the colourful wiring as a lot of the modern cabling on an F1 car is either black or braided?
A cool build and some great effort going into this one, well done!!

Clear tubing for brake reservoirs, going to really put a lot of detail in this area want it to look like there's a lot going on!

Nice work Mark and that Entex Lotus 72D sounds like a nice project, will you be doing a build diary for it - I love the old '70s F1 cars?
By the way can I ask where in East Sussex do you live?

Thanks Kev, unfortunately it sold last night 25 pounds my maximum bid! It was still sold, but I'm seriously considering the Entex M23 as I mentioned before, I have offered him 1k with extras but weighing up the pros and cons of getting it,
What do you think?

That's a shame Mark, still the M23 is nicer imho, though nothing wrong with the Lotus 72D of course - they are both cool!! Wish I had 1K to throw at a kit, that's way out of my league I'm afraid but if you've got it then why not? Only worry is you might spend that kind of money then find that 5-10 years from now somebody re-releases the kit it at a third of the price that the current rarity demands? Just depends on whether you are really keen on owning that kit I suppose?
Personally, if I had that sort of money I would try to track down one of these transkits for the Tamiya 1:12 M23 kit, yes it's a smaller scale but only a little and a much better model once the conversion is completed?:

You would also have to buy the Tamiya 1:12 M23 kit as a donor but you'd have more for you money as I say and at half the price you might pay for the slightly larger and less detailed Entex 1:8 model!! That's if you could find one though - LOL!!

I think 1000 is a lot to spend on anything let alone 40 year old plastic haaahaaaa (although I would love one!)

Hello Mark,
The Tamiya kit is still available now as a recent re-release from (I think it was) last year of the 1974 'Texaco-Marlboro' sponsored McLaren M23 as driven by Emerson Fittipaldi and as far as detail goes it's quite good considering it was first issued back in the '70s, so as a standard kit it is fine - but that is just the donor kit that you need to buy in order to have something to convert with the help of the 'E-Jan' Transkit which you will need to buy separately. The detail which is included in the 'E-Jan' Transkit - which allows you to transform the Tamiya 1:12 1974 M23 into a 1:12 model of James Hunts' 1976 M23 - is stunning by all accounts and even comes with rain tyres!!
