Part 1 Question

When I screw the two front-wing endplates into the front flap -
Should the connection be:
snug?
flush?
see some some of the screw with some wiggle room?
a little wiggle room?

My initial try resulted in considerable effort to force the screw inward and the two parts were still not flush with some of the screws visible and the endplates wiggling. Then I unscrewed one side and used a pin vise to widen the receiving holes a bit. It is a little better, but still not flush.

The little screwdriver that comes with the kit is not the best and I have a better one on the way.

How about a thin lubricant on the screw?

Keep working with the pin vise to deepen the receiving hole?

Wait for the better screwdriver?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Meister

It's always best to use another set of screwdrivers if you have them to hand and with regards to the end plates they should be snug with no movement. Other builders have used a tiny amount of washing liquid to ease the screw in but make sure you only use a little and wash of any excess by running it under the tape and allow it to dry naturally.

Thanks for the good advise, Warthog. With the cost of this project I don't want any mistakes.

I use a tiny bit of Vaseline on the screws and that seems to work very well.

Hi Meister, I had this problem when i was building my McLaren. I found the best thing to do was before screwing the parts together i tightened a screw in the receiving hole as far in as possible (be careful the plastic doesn't split) & then removed the screw & then join the parts together as normal. The screw then follows the cut thread & goes in alot easier & all the way in. Also, a good quality mini screwdriver set is a must. The one you get with the model isn't very good. Hope this helps. Stu.
