well after 83 issues I made my first mistake on the build, and it was a big one. When changing the started pull bar handle I had secured the string as instructed but when I cut the knot it suddenly pulled out my hand and went flying into the starter unit. Cue a frustrating hour strip down to try and salvage the part. It seems to be working as I carefully removed it from inside but the cable is quite slack (about 5cm at the end) for some reason but the engine appears to crank when pulled and the string retracts... so I think it still works? My question Is, is it runable now with the fuel tank fitted as of stage 83? I have fuel and a starter so I'm keen to see if it works or if I need to get a replacement starter... With hindsight I wish I hadn't bothered changing it now  Building: RB7 Nitro / Senna MP4/4 Finished: McLaren MP4/23

The throttle and brake rods are not fitted until Issue/Stage 86, therefore you won't have any throttle control.
Issue 89 is the issue where you can test run, as it provides all you need to know about start-up and setting the engine etc, there is also a section about replacing the starter cord.

I am not intending to swap the pull starter handles myself. Most of my cars have a standard handle so I am not fussed about this improved one. Pull starters are easy to get hold of if you do need a new one, I usually keep a few spares as they do go from time to time. Just make sure you get one that fits your engine. I have to say the part order in the RB7 subscription is pretty daft. The hummer order was much more logical. I do not see why there is so much chopping and changing between display body and rc. The fact you have to remove rc parts to fit the display body is testament to this. It was worse at the beginning though when you had to keep taking stuff apart again because it arrived in a round about order. Just got issues 81-84 today so I am tempted to just get a throttle brake rod set to complete the rc part and break the car in. How come we are supposed to wait till issue 89 to run the car? Issue 89 provides all you need to know about start-up and setting-up of the engine, which if you have never done before, you should read up on, along with setting up the RC gear, before taking the plunge.

Cool I thought as much. It can be quite daunting for first timers. I find the best thing is to just take your time with the engine and double check everything.I just thought it would be in the throttle rod issue so people don't get tempted to start it up before reading the article. :) Finished 3D Printer, RB7, Hummer, Skyrider drone & Combat tank collection http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Agreed. It was a bit frustrating to do the steps only to have to undo things again however I have enjoyed this build much more than the McLaren just miffed I made a mistake that I could have avoided as you say, I could have just left the starter bar as it was!
