okay so im currently doing the victory, i also have the endeavour longboat in construction. buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut with 2 more parts of the endeavour to go, second part coming any day now im going to get bored. and FAST. now im a techie guy but that will only go so far. my partner has the mantua titanic kit to play with, and its a BEAST at 135cm in length. ontop of that i have just subscribed to the titanic longboat for him as well. so i was being nosey on cornwall model and guess what ship i managed to fall in love with? Panart Amerigo Vespucci 1:84 http://www.cornwallmodel...erigo_vespucci_799.html
the entire ship from hull design to colour scheme is wonderful! so im going to invest into the part works. that talley's up to over £800 but its going to take me months between needing each part so i should image it will keep me VERY VERY VERY busy between buying each of the 9 parts. the detialing kits are pretty good for what i've seen. anyway 2 maybe 3 months before i go and buy the first part of that. just wanted to let ya know that i will EVENTUALLY be making a diary for it. also wanted your oppinions on the model and if anyone has built this actual kit i would LOVE your input.

the link is to the complete kit, which is smaller and has lesser detials. (lesser detailing to be confirmed though but consdiering the difference in price i would image the part work is ALOT more detialed) the partwork is mantua/panart and although thier instructions are often less than to be desired the quality of thier kits seems good. also being able to contact them to replace any parts that get damaged like my partners titanic rudder is easy and cheap too. so ima go with the part works for the larger size of the model and better detailing compared with the complete kit i have linked to. the part work link. http://www.cornwallmodel...rigo_vespucci_multi.html

well the build wont be as good as it could be due to these 2 biggie factors
im a total noob, the endeavour longboat and the victories launch are my practice ones. and this has to be one of the hardest models i have been able to find.
both of which are reasons why im doing it. to FORCE myself to slow down in the builds and take my time and do it right. plus i really need something to do between victory issues.
when i get to grips with uploading pics to this particular site and have mustered the £135 for the hull kit and begin i will start up the diary and include pictures of the box's content as well.
on a side note, how is your pearl doing mr. sparrow?

This is an impressive looking ship and she is on my shopping list too Although I am going for the 1:100 scale complete kit. I didn't realise there is a part works option for her naa I can't the missus would kill me what with buying the complete kit of HMS Victorytoo I'll just have to look on with envious eyes at your build instead and dream of what could have been

If I ever manage to find out how to upload pics I would love to do a build diary/other build etc. One of my other builds is the Titanic lifeboat and I would love to share pics. Here's hoping. the vespucci is definatly going to be a challenge and im pondering how to gather the £135 so it doesnt take 2/3 months before i can buy the first kit lol
either way i should imagine once the hull ribs and decks are in place the fairign will be a whole lot easier and planking should only take about 2 months to complete lol

I've been tempted by this kit, looks fantastic, but really should finish my HMS Greyhound first & then the Victory & also have Caldercrafts Bark Endeavour under the bench! Nearly forgot about HMS Surpise!!!! What is it about ship modelling? Never tried it before subscribing to the Victory at launch, bought the Geryhound as a practice kit for Victory (mistake! quality not good & poor instructions!) and am now totally hooked, so much more engaging than the plastic kits I'm used to. Got about 5yrs work already but still want to buy more! HELP!!!!! Would be interested to know what you think of it when you've got the first kit.

Wilfy the Sea Dog, ADDICTIVE is the word mate, I know what you mean, I was rrying to give up smoking just over ten years ago and my wife bought me the first parts of a wooden ship build, great, I gave up one addiction (smoking) and gained another (modelling)!! Granted, I used to make loads of plastic models when I was a kid, but these wooden builds are a whole new ball game... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

lol well im waiting for issues 10-13 to be dispatched of the victory, so not even finished the launch yet.
waiting for issue 2 of the endeavour longboat to be delivered so i hve that to finish
so im thinking that the hull kit for the vespucci should be more than enough to keep me occupied between issues of the endeavour and victory for a good 2 months at least.

okay i was taking a more detailed look at cornwall model boats. such a bad idea that website is a bd influence lol. anyway i came across this and thought "WOW" http://www.cornwallmodel...alog/corel_unicorn.html
it seems like a reasonable price too! and thy do sell a separate sail kit for it too even though i havent even got the money for the amerigo's hull kit im just hoping that they keep this beauty in stock long enough to buy both of them. all the ships i build will be going in the stairway as i have a large area at the top of the stairs to either fill with ships or pictures.....so im thinking ships ships ships lol. theres a little landing outside the lounge that runs along side the stairs so im putting the victory on the wall out there and the cespucci will go next to that, because they are the longest and widest with the landing you can look on the decks without having to take them down, i have the endeavour on the wall out there too and that will leave room for one more large ship and sevreal smaller ships. so im going to have lots and lots of fun lol

Hi Steve,
The following is my personal oppinion which may not be shared by everyone.
Just to give you a word of warning re Corel. I bought their HMS Geryhound as a practice kit before starting the Victory & found the following:
The written instructions were poorly translated and seem somewhat incomplete. They supplied 4 sheets of plans with no translation on them at all & the detail again seems incomplete. (My Cldercraft Bark Endeavor kit has 8 pages which are about 1 1/2 times the size & fully detailed) The written instructions infer that there is painting detail, but none is supplied. The fit and quality of parts is in my oppinion poor especially that of the cast metal components. The wooden hatch cover parts are unusable.
Saying all that it certainly has given me some practice for the Victory and I have percivered (can't spell that!)and have nearly finished the second planking.
As I say all my oppinion and just a few words of warning from a neebie who has been there!
Personally I would save my money for the Vespucci, the more I look at it the more I love it!
Wilfy
