I need a favour from someone who hasn't fixed and glued down the lower deck yet.
Way back at issue 8 I received by mistake, 2 part 20's and no 21. The advice at the time was to order another copy as they are different. I eventually received the new pack and what do I find to my complete surprise in this issue but 2 part 21's and no 20.
Hey ho, but when I compare the 2 parts, 20 and 21, they looked the same although the ribs themselves do appear slightly different.
As I am new to all this and don't want to cock it up I thought I'd better check if the 2 parts were the same or not and whether I received the wrong part albeit correctly numbered.
Thanks for looking and I hope that's not all gibberish.

Hi John,
Just had a look on mine, they appear quite similar but it is hard to tell as its all fixed in etc. Like you said there will be better advice perhaps from someone who hasn't fixed them together yet.
As far as I can see, I imagine there would be the least difference here due to the fact they are in the centre of the ship and there is less of a curve etc. I imagine you could get away with using the part although you might have to be clever with your fairing later on!
Just some suggestions! Tom

Hi John,
I haven't fixed my in yet and offered them up together apart from the obvious difference in slot depth, they are marginally different in profile, it is small but probably enough to cause issues when you start fairing and planking. I'm no expert but would advise getting the correct items.
Hope that helps.

What an idiot, I never thought to check the slot depth. Yes they are different, thanks Wilfy.
They are correct according to the numbers but I must say I have lost a little faith in Dag - not Tomick, at the moment but that's OK because it's far exceeded by the help and support here.
I can get on at last....until the next question which will be coming along in about 5 minutes.
Thanks
John

I had the same problem John, thought about turning the 2nd part 20b around and getting over it that way, but like you found that one was slightly shorter when fitted into the slots. I waited until I had received the replacement and am now happy. TIS
