BigGrin Hi All

This is where i will start my diary of the 1/24 Airfix tiffy, it will be a straight out of the box build without etch enhancements as there is little out there anyway apart from decals and a gun set that,s really for the 1/24 mossie. There are several build options with this kit wheels up or down ,full engine cowl , half cowled or fully uncowled, I have chosen with the half cowled engine exposed at the top version and a late war paint job.
The build starts with the cockpit frames and spreaders being fixed together, straight away I noticed that if this is assembled out of true it will affect the whole build to the point that gaps will appear later on when adding the wings and fuselage. My solution to getting everything square was to use the wing spars on a flat surface to get everything square and correctly aligned and seams to have worked out ok, after everything was dry i then added the undercariage mounting points to the spar's. Then its add the major components to the cockpit, more soon

Regards

BigGrin Thanks everyone for looking in and your comments, I forgot to mention some pilots liked to have the cockpit painted black thus the black side bars. Lots of detail in this kit but a good deal gets covered up aswell. More soon.

BigGrin Hi all

More bits added to the cockpit, side panels ect the instrament panel comes in two parts the clear plastic part that the decals are stuck too and the outer that fits over it i did need to enlarge the holes for the red bulbs to get a good fit and make sure all the decals for the dials are centraly placed. I have been painting as recomended then weathering with a mixture of smoke and burnt umber. No real issue's as yet but i would recomend dry fitting everything before glueing it in place. More soon .

BigGrin Hi All

After finishing the cockpit detailing it was onto the engine bay and its detailing. The Napier engine is very highly detailed but you have to watch what you add as there are choices of how much you want exposed or cowled up, the detailing will prevent the cowling from fitting properly if you go for the fully or half cowled versions. Again dry fit everything and make sure everything is square before glueing. More soon .

Thanks for the comments and looking in, I also forgot to mention that the engine hasn't been weathered as yet so still looks a little too fresh.
