Hi shipmates,

Before I get started with the "big thing" I am doing a rehearsal with building the H.M.S. Victory CrossSection Kit from Corel. And her I could need some help, especially from those guys who have been on the real Victory, because painting the inside is coming up.

What are the colors INSIDE of the several gundecks ?
I mean the ceilings and the inside face of the planks, the walls including the gunports (don't know the proper english term)

After checking the detailpacks (THX jase!!) and images on the official homepage I am still not sure whether the walls are all white or ochre. Am I right that all the ceilings are painted in white ?

So painting could be something like this:
* Upper Gun Deck: ceiling - white, walls - ochre
* Middle Gun Deck: ceiling - white, walls - white
* Lower Gun Deck: ceiling - white, walls - white
* Orlop: ??? just stained ??

This maybe also interesting for those who are planning a cutaway section in their model.

Thank you very much for any help

Hi,

My understanding is that once upon a time all of victory's inner surfaces were painted white but recently research has uncovered that they were yellow ochre on all decks. the deck was natural wood except in the area used by the surgeon they were painted red. I have not seen anything to suggest the roof beams and planks were anything other than white

I am sure we are about to start a debate on this but i would go with the above

I should be fine of ... did i get you right ?

interesting subject this,I'm sure the pics coming in of the victory,would suggest yellow ochre for the walls,but my impression were top deck and poop inside walls yellow ochre,and below the main gundeck were white walls,so how we gonna paint them walls when the planking is done as the middle gun deck sit on top,i.e. long paint brush through the gunports??and entranceway.??
