Hello Tom,
Question #1 - Avro Lancaster B Mk.III (Type 464 Provisioning)
Question #2 - 22 converted aircraft left the production line (though only 19 eventually went on the raid) and 8 failed to return.
Question #3 - On the ground, Gibson's aircraft serial number was ED932/G. In the air it was ED932, the /G suffix having been painted out just prior to take off on the raid. All of the aircraft designated for the raid had the /G suffix, which denoted that the aircraft carried secret equipment and required a 24 hour guard when not in the air. Gibson's Lancaster carried the letters AJ-G.

Thankyou guys, much appreciated. I've seen the film many times though strangely enough I don't yet have a DVD in my collection of war films, so I'll look forward to watching it again, maybe over the Christmas break.
Thanks for the prize Tom, much appreciated.

My DVD has arrived and looks to contain a very interesting docu.mentary besides the classic film! I'll be watching that over the Christmas break for sure.
Many thanks for the prize Tom and for organising the comp, very much appreciated and it finally fills a longstanding gap in my DVD collection!
Cheers!!

I think painting a human face has to be quite possibly the trickiest thing to paint and get lookng right but you've done a pretty good job of it so far

That's a beautiful job on the face Nem, they are right that face painting is one of the hardest jobs to get right (I can remember Frederick getting more than one coat!) Lovely work and the cap badge is perfect too! Robin. Thank you all for your comments, getting the eyes right is the hardest part, I managed one eye ok, the other took two goes, he looked like he was drunk!
