THURSDAY 21st OctoberWe all ought to celebrate this day. The pusser do it a treat with a wealth of tradition. I just wondered if we merry band of Victory builders might like to share our thoughts and plans. Ideas on menu/port/tradition would be welcome. Perhaps dinner amongst friends with the part build as the table centrepiece, the youngest crew member giving a short speech or toast on Victory tradition, etc. Background sounds of battle from the Surprise tape and a swinging parafin lamp outside to welcome guests. (They're only a £1 in the pound shop) Anyway just a thought... PASS THE PORT HARDY... ArtfulBodger Previous Build: HMS. Bounty

Here is my contribution - http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=15712Item title reads: " On Trafalgar Day. Sir Hubert Brand, C-in-C of the Atlantic Fleet, transfers his flag from H.M.S. Revenge to H.M.S. Nelson - named greatest of all sailors."
Portsmouth, Hampshire, and Liverpool and Newcastle.
M/S of ship's bridge with marines in white helmets on the deck in the foreground. A sailor hauls up the Union Jack ensign on a flag pole. Fog and smoke swirl in the background. M/S of ship's mast and cross ensign flying. High angle shot of a launch approaching the warship. Officers are piped aboard. M/S of sailor at the top of a mast with flag. Officers inspect marines, and the camera pans around the warship. Various shots of a parade of sailors and civilians in Newcastle, near to a statue of Nelson, and in Liverpool sailors march in bell bottom trousers, followed by a brass band and boys in clerical collars, from a public school ?
Note: Good sequence of sailors in bell bottomed trousers.http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=7799

I found Pathe some time ago searching for my great grandfather's history on the HMS Hood, I found quite a lot of footage there when he was on the Hood back in the early 30's, and I am almost certain footage of him.
It;s a treasure trove mate, spend some time looking around, it may throw up some surprises.

It's my birthday on this momentous day in history, marked by years of standing duty on Trafalgar Day whilst serving in the Sea Cadets all those years ago. I shall be celebrating..
