To begin this build Diary I thought I would start off with the great man himself..

The resin cast is of a very good quality and the detail is very lifelike with a classic pose..

After a light coat of Zero Paints white primer using an airbrush the cast was left to dry for a couple of hours... Then the face and hands where painted with a tan (Vallejo) acrylic as a base to work on...

After the Primer had time to dry overnight, it was time to lay down the first coat of "Scudaria" Red once again from Zero Paints... I used this colour as I thought it was the best match for what I needed plus having some on the Shelf also helped BigGrin. Once again this was left overnight to allow to cure before adding further detail..

In this update there has been a lot of detail added around the face and Racing suit... Shading to the face using photo's to get as lifelike as possible. This update is picture heavy and the next update will adding the Decals etc and James Hunts Racing Helmet...

After applying the decals and a few details such as stitching to the overalls etc I'm happy to present to you the Late Great Mr James Hunt..

He sits upon the Wet Tyres that I will be using on the M23 Build and as yet have not had anything done to them but that will change as the build diary continues. All that is needed to add is James's Helmet which will follow in another update soon... Hope you enjoy looking at photo's as much as I have in painting him.

My wife walked in while I was looking at your latest pics & from the other side of the room said "That's James Hunt",in my opinion you can't get better than that if someone instantly recognises the subject from that far away.
Congratulations on such an excellent job.

Amazing work Spence, I really wish I could paint figures as Id love to have a crack at the classic horror movie kits available. I really cant wait to see the car make an appearance - and that's coming from someone who never used to like F1 models until I saw the builds on this forumBigGrin

Hi Guy's

As promised here is james Hunt's Helmet to go along with the M23..

The Resin cast helmet was given 2 coats of primer before 3coats of Halfords Satin black. Once cured the decals where applied and then given a clear coat. The Visor was made from clear plastic sheet and given a light coat of Tamiya Smoke.
