BigGrin Hi secretsteve have u tried b&q(superstore) they do test pots in a lot of ranges
Drool found it cheaper to buy 3 test pots than 1 standard pot = same volume (yes i am scottish but don't like being ripped off)

Hey mate, try teak oil, if you can get a test pot see how it would look as it does bring the wood texture out nicely.

kool i'll look into that, i dont want to paint it as i prefure the natural wood look and this will be the first one i've completed so taking alot of time with it as have already made some majour mistakes, but luckily i think i've recovered them.

b and q do 500ml bottles of teak oil for £3.48

will it make the sapele strips appear deeper/richer in colour?
or just bring the grain of the wood out more? never really used it so dont even know best way to apply it
