I seem to recall seeing a post some months ago regarding the fact that the upper row of gunports do not level up to the upper deck. As I approach this It seems to me this could be the case.
I'm think it may be better t lay this deck before cutting the portholes.
Any advice or suggestions on this?

Hi Sinbad, BigGrin

Unfortunately, my Vic build is stuck in it`s infancy due to much else on the go.

I`m sure though, that if you were to post some pics of your concerns, ie: as to where you are up to with your build, then some of our more advanced "Vic" builders will be able to assist. Cool

Hi Delboy,
Photography is not my strong point so I'll tell you if you go to issue 27 page 10 you will see a plan of all the gun portholes the one I'm getting set to do is the top row. At the moment I'm darting from place to place on the Vic. I finishes the 4 rows of planking that bend around the transom (not Easy) then I decided to go back to the gun portholes where I left off months ago because it got a little tedious. I've just about finished putting the frames in said portholes.
My gut feeling is to make a temp fit of the upper deck just to check things out before I get to carried away.
Thanks for your reply.

Hi sinbad, i think your talking about the gun ports marked out at issue 29 which will have the first cannon on carrages installed
You are quite right one or two people had minor issus with the gun port being a bit low. I would mark it out as per the instructions and as you say wait till the deck is in before cutting it. Any adjustment will only be small but if you cut the top half of the gun port you can the trial fit a cannon and make adjustments if you need to and not end up with a rectangular gun port, hope that makes sense

Hi Sinbad, its very difficult to give you exact answers to your questions when we cannot see the actual problems or concerns you are having. Giving a couple of pics at least rather than a long detailed explantion really is worth its weight in gold, especially if you are to receive the correct help and guidance you need from the experienced builders out there.. It could very well be that it is your build that has a problem rather than the instructions given in the mags...

Alan

Hi Al,
BigGrin Well Jase confirmed what I felt should be done. Make a temp fit of the deck and check.
I've found this is the biggest secret of this build. Read everything more than once and double check.
Oh, I agree pics would save a lengthy explanation Al, if I had a problem. Because I have not taken any action until checking things there is no problem. Be assured though, if this does happen I will post pics as I have in the past.
Thanks for you input Al.
