Well!!!!
I have taken the plunge and am waiting for it to be delivered,
I will make this the most detailed build possible and I cannot wait to share it with you guys!
There will be plenty of mods to make it SUPER detailed!
This will be a huge (but rewarding) task,
I also purchased fresh new decals and a James Hunt 1:8 helmet
Wish me luck!

Nice one Mark and I wish you luck!! Looking forward to seeing the build develop and it'll be interesting to see your mods? If you get stuck or need any advice just ask, I'm always willing to help and I'm sure others will be too.

Strange that you posted that set of pictures as this was the exact reason I wanted the kit, to build it just like this and I know it will be tough but I know I can do it :)
Cannot wait!!
Just a warning I won't start it until the mp4 23 is done but I just had my second last delivery :) excited to show the finished article :)

Congratulations on your purchase Mark: I also look forward to seeing your build of this rare piece; I also have this kit but not the guts to build it; but if Wim @ Best Balsa Kits ever rereleases the detail kit shown in the link I will change my mind-- the only 'extras' I have found are the decal sheet, rain tires and a set of turned aluminum intakes, has anyone found any other parts to be available?

Hi mate,
I think there is plenty to buy on the market from the likes of BestBalsaKits and even places like hiroboy (in the UK) There are plenty of add ons like hoses, hose clips and tubing,
If your really artistic you may even be able to make bits and pieces,
Although I may not be able to reach the standard of the BBK mclaren M23 im going to give it a damn good try :)

Thanks guys :) Hello Mark,
This is the most accurate McLaren Red out there, which has been matched to the paint on the real cars meaning this is the proper MP/4 Red, which was used on all of the 'Marlboro' sponsored red and white McLarens so you won't get anything closer than this and it even shows the James Hunt M23 in the photos at the bottom of the page so it must be right? I have this set of paints which I will be using when I get round to finishing my Tamiya 1:20 Hunt 1976 McLaren that I started ages ago and I can vouch for its' accuracy in colour - it's spot on imho!! You will be well advised to also buy your primer/undercoat from the same company and also their clear gloss coat:
