I left the exhaust pipes on their moulding sprues for painting ( and to not lose track of their part numbers ). I used an undercoat of gloss black and then Alclad 2 stainless steel.RM1 attached the following image(s):

The anti-roll bar was a bit tricky to position as it didn't have a "snap' in location. I found the best way was to hold the gearbox suspension assembly upside down. RM1 attached the following image(s):

Making a start on the bodywork. Quite a lot of mould lines to smooth out. Also removing the front wing end plates to fit the PE parts. RM1 attached the following image(s):

The airbox is two parts so quite a lot of filling and polishing.RM1 attached the following image(s):

This is the first time that I have had to do a visible line between two colours. I sprayed the white first and then the red (tamiya TS36 Fluorescent red)Pleased with the result but a little bleed of red on the underside. Must be more positive with the masking tape. It's not all good news, got a bit over enthusiastic with spraying the rear wing endplate. Have to rub it down and start again.RM1 attached the following image(s):

Mark's great progress with his build has inspired me to get some more done on this build. A major masking job and spraying the TS36 red. A couple of glitches but pleased with the result. RM1 attached the following image(s):

Also sprayed the red line that runs along the base of the bodywork. have to do that with the underpan moulding next. Couldn't resist putting the parts together to see how it looks. Malc.RM1 attached the following image(s):

Looking great Malc So much fun doing the older F1 cars and the temptation of putting them together before complete is half the fun Spencer

This is awesome!!
One reason I didn't attempt the 1:20 is the pure skill needed to implement such detail, something you have done fantastically, pure inspiration for my build!

Thanks to all for looking in and giving the supporting comments. There's great scope for detailing around the engine and suspension on these older F1 cars and you can see it even when the body is in place !! Nice to see three James Hunt builds on the go in this forum. Giving me lots of ideas for mine.

Nice work Malc, that red cheatline looks very tricky to mask but you did a great job of keeping it neat and straight, well done.
