Hello Admin, I was wondering if you could find something out for us, I'm unsure as yet if I want to paint the hull or keep it natural, if I decide to keep it natural, what materials are going to be supplied for the outer skin of the hull (planks) are they going to be natural? we stain them ourselves for simulated dark wood, or will be be supplied natural dark wood planks?

Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes
David

Hi All

The hull will be single-planked and can be painted, lightly stained to the colour shown in the finished photos, or coppered, as you prefer. The wood we are supplying is lime (US term 'basswood'). Lime is a hardwood that is also flexible and easily worked, so it's ideal for the purpose. It was used for some of the finest historic carvings in Europe, including those by Grinling Gibbons, whose work included Blenheim Palace and St Paul's Cathedral. Therefore there will be no veneer.

Thanks
