Hi folks

I am new to this forum lark, but have had a good read and this seems to be the place to sort out problems/issues with the build.
I have recently finished the Bismark so decided to have a go at something with a difference. The Victory seems a good choice.
Now to my problem

The first 16 pounder in issue one clearly (well I think so) shows the narrow end of the taper to the rear, however in issue 25 the build instructions state "the narrow end of the taper to the front". Which is correct?

I am painting my model so if I have to rebuild the guns it will be a pain but not a disaster

Thanks in advance for any comments

Hello, I think you will find that these cannon are 12 pounders. I like your improvements and you are correct with your assumption..... Narrow goes to the front. The magazine version is a misprint. If you read some of the early blogs this will be confirmed for you.

Here are a couple of cannon I have done.

Hi,

To change the topic slightly, pictures that I have seen of these cannons on the Victory, don't seem to have the cut-outs running down the sides of the mountings.

I've had a look at tomicks build diary & to me it looks like the first one was made with the cut-outs showing & later ones with the cut-outs not showing (on the inside?)

Just wondered if anyone could advise me as to which is correct.

Thanks in advance.

Looking good! We certainly don't frown upon people adding detail around here, in fact it is actively encouraged!

@Wilfy
I've put the side cut-outs on the interior of the cannons.

You'll find that the side lines all my gun carriages are on the outside as per the magazine build.

MMMMMmmmmmm thought that would be the case. Must say that I have found some of the instructions could be more detailed. Will need to keep an eye on this forum.

If the admin people where aware of a misprint re the construction of the cannon. A note in BOLD TYPE with the next issue containing a cannon would have been more than helpful. As it is I have 5 to rebuild ( 2 now have completed 3 )

Happy days

onto the next cannon to disassemble

GilShapley hi and welcome to the madhouse, yes those instuctions for the trolly caught me out as well,I was swearing for weeks, never did see a correction, anyway it is personal choice as to what way round the side go,I rather like the way it is,so I made mine with the fluted side on the outside.
