Hi,

I received Tony's R2D2 and gave a lot of thought about how to finish/paint it, especially when it came to the metallic blue parts on R2D2.

Basically, I just painted it white, with a silver dome. For the metallic blue parts, I used CorelDraw to do the artwork. I printed it on a blank Walther's decal sheet in black on a laser printer. Then I cut out a piece of blue laser foil, taped it over the artwork, and ran it through the laser printer a second time (on the second pass, I removed the artwork from the computer screen and just placed a period at the bottom of the page and hit print.) This fused the foil to the toner on the decal sheet to give me a blue metallic decal. I'm glad it works, because it may have more applications in the future.

I'm using my R2D2 to put out an electrical fire in a computer cabinet on the Falcon, that's why he has a CO2 extinguisher coming out of his chest.

Ooh. That's really nice. Thanks for sharing.
Does it need a top coat to prevent the foil rubbing off Easley?
