Looks a beautiful kit Ian and though I'm not a bike lover, I do like to build a bike model every once in a while. This one looks very tempting and in my opinion Ducati certainly make some of the most beautiful bikes? If DeAg offered a 1/4 scale 'Panigale' along the same lines as their Hayabusa, I really don't think I could resist it!!
If you aren't sure about airbrushing you could go down the less expensive route of rattle cans as I'm sure there is a genuine Ducati red spray paint commercially available? You would need to prime the plastic parts first otherwise any paint will lift and flake eventually. Halfords Grey Plastic primer (make sure it's the plastic primer not the standard grey body primer) is widely used and could be used for the majority of darker coloured parts on this kit such as the black wheels (again Halfords do a Gloss or Satin Black depending on choice). For the red body parts, prime with Halfords 'White' Plastic primer which will help the red stay bright. Red over grey primer just doesn't work as well and is quite dull in comparison?
If you use rattle cans then get some 'Micro Mesh' fine grade sheets and lightly sand the parts after priming to remove any coarseness to the paint surface as rattle cans don't spray as fine as an airbrush is capable of and spray in several thin coats sanding between each? If you go down the route of buying an airbrush practice as much as you can on some scrap material just to get it set up right and if using an airbrush then I would go all the way and get some 99.9% accurate Ducati 'Panigale' Red paint from Zero Paints:
http://www.zero-paints.c...60ml--product--269.html
If using their paint I would recommend using their own primer as well as it is much finer and made to go with the top coat red? Clear coat can be either Zero Paints own purpose made product or even just several thin coats of 'Johnsons Klear' (now sold as 'Pledge' clear liquid floor polish). Hope that helps and I hope that you will start a diary for this as I'd love to see how the kit builds?

Thank u so much model mania very helpful and also been reading the booklet that came with it got a good idea now. I have always wanted and a spray gun but in this case no. Have used normal metal primer before on models but decals did not do well on paint this why I always say I am still learning and never stop. Facebook-model maker

Have a re-read of Kev's post Ian as he's answered your question regarding Tamiya rattle cans and Zero paints earlier. There's certainly some nice extra detail parts out there for these kits and you can end up spending a fortune at Hiroboy if your not carefull Spence

Hi no problem, not the best picture, All metal parts are anodized, blue nuts on the top, black rings in middle of forks and the stanchions, you also get the little round pieces on the disk brake. Builds, deag Zero, D51, Senna MP4/4

Nice work on your Panigale build Tanasius, love the fork upgrades, they are so worth the extra expense and really set the bike off nicely. I can see them looking very cool against the Ducati red.
Thanks for the link to the Pocher 1:4 scale by the way, I had seen it before, just can't afford it at the moment!!
Are those 1:16 scale Tiger I and King Tiger builds I see in the background of your photo by the way?

Nice Tigers Tanasius, you should do build diaries for them, I'm sure they would be well received?
Apologies for digressing and hijacking your thread Ian.
