Hey gang, maybe someone already discussed this but I did a search and couldnt find it.

I am wondering what the actual scale is of the DeAgo Millennium Falcon?

The reason I want to know is for custom making my own parts and finding figures that would fit in it and be to scale.

Based on the Full Scale Falcon project they are saying the falcon is 114' long.

This model is 32.5" correct?

So by those numbers I get approximately 1:42.75 scale. Does that seem right to you?

So by that scale a 6' tall person (say Han Solo) would be 1.68" tall.

Building: DeAgostini Millennium Falcon...hasn't built a model since 1996...this is gonna be interesting!!

I came up with the same numbers. 1/43 scale figures arent common, though 1/48 is a common scale in aircraft, armor and architecture modeling, so figures in that scale can be found easily if you dont mind doing some re-sculptin or modifying. They'd average a little short ("Arent you a little short for a Stormtrooper?") but wouldnt be terribly far off. JTT Scenery Products and Wee scapes both produce generic people in this scale for architecture and railroad modeling ('O' Gauge in model railroading is also 1/48 scale). I hope this helps!

Just did a quick ebay search "1 43 figure" and got plenty of results. Many are metal single figures, but there are some plastic multiple figure sets too. Shouldnt be hard to find some that could be modded into SW characters pretty easily with a little Sculpey and a toothpick :)

Is there a list of what all comes with this model kit someplace? I saw a picture in another forum post of a 7 inch Han Solo figure that supposedly comes with this.

Does anyone know if this model kit comes with any to-scale figures?

The Han figure is a UK exclusive. As far as I can tell we U.S. customers get the binder and the wall mount but not the Han figure, the free issue, or the tee shirt. I dont know whether there will be any figures with the ship. There are some popping up on Shapeways though.

No... there will not be any figures that will be issued with this kit. Nor will any of the signatures that appear on the ship itself be available. This was part of the licensing agreement that DeAgostini had with LucasFilm. No likenesses or signatures. However I have been hearing that some are working on 1/43 scale figures for printing. Might be worth looking into.

I've herd a few people talking about signatures on the falcon.
Are these ILM artist signatures cleverly worked into the hull, or placed on the inside, or actor signature edition autograph placks or something?

The original 32" filming model had approximately 10 different signatures of the artists who worked on it over the course of the build. All the signatures were written in rapidograph pen and pencil. The names were in various spots on the hull, under details, I believe there was even a signature on the support beam of the radar dish. Because most of the signatures were so small and most of the filming of it was done in motion, you couldn't make out the names on the model at all. It wasn't until detailed photographs were taken of the 32" by Steve Dymszo that all of the signatures were discovered.

Officially, by DeAgostini's posted specs, the scale is 1:43, length of model 31.8in (808mm) divided by 114' (34.75m) (although Wookeepedia lists it as 34.37m or 112.74')

The actual scale varies a bit between around 1:42.5 for the cockpit area and around 1:48 more or less for the interior hold areas.

Officially (who are these official guys anyway, hehe) the 'O' scale figures used in train modeling are 1:43.5, but again you will find that different company's producing these 'O' scale figures vary there sizes between 1:43 down to 1:48...so finding the best ones will be trial and error.

The pilot seats in the DeAgo cockpit seem to be a bit over-sized, more around 1:38, and if you get the Shapeways replacements they are closer to the 1:43.

Cursing

It can become a bit confusing, but if it looks good then go with it...

I may have found some fun figure ideas for display with the Falcon.
Fantasy Flight Games make a game called Imperial Assault, which has a good number of very nicely sculpted minis that may well be the proper scale. I don't own any yet, though.
Does anyone on this forum own this game and is willing to take some figure pics with the cockpit/lounge parts?
I'm also keeping my eyes open for any HeroClix figures that can be repainted into the crew.
I have a bunch of the Star Wars minis that Wizards of the Coast made, but they're just too small to look right. They look like hobbits standing in the cockpit.

Ask and you shall receive. Unfortunately, I only have the first month's issues, and I've been preoccupied with foundation repairs and new flooring. Couple that with the fact that I haven't received the second month's issues yet even though I got my binder a week ago, and I just haven't put anything together yet.

This isn't great photo work, but it should work for comparison's sake. I have the cockpit base, one pilot seat and one passenger seat, as well as the dejarik table. From Imperial Assault, I have Han, Chewie and a Stormtrooper. And from the old Star Wars WotC minis, I have some troopers of various types.

The IA figures are roughly the same size as the WotC minis. They're a bit different in style, though. The troopers' helmets are bigger, for example, but they're roughly the same scale.

You should be able to extrapolate from these as to whether you think they'd be a good fit. I'm guessing these are the standard 28mm scale.

Thanks for the pics Lickintoad...the scale may not be perfect but eyeballing it...it seems close. I could see them in the hold area or have chewie running in the hallway.

I may just get some. Does anyone know if they are sold individually...I am assuming so maybe as an expansion pack??

Han and Chewie are ally packs. The game's page is here. You can see what they have available, and what they have coming up.

Thanks Lickintoad!

It does look like the FFG figures are more stocky than the WotC ones, but I think you're right, there's not a lot of height difference.

I have some friends looking at their HeroClix collections to see if there are any figs that can be repainted into the characters. I have a few Free Comic Book Day HeroClix figures that are a little bit bigger, and I think those are a solid option.
I'll keep everyone informed on what I find.

I just finished a whole bunch of 1:43 figures for mine.
