Michael

I have really loved your take on a "lunch break build" BigGrin if you get linch breaks in Europe maybe we made the wrong decision BigGrin oh stop getting political.

Well done i have really enjoyed your take on a build diary and I hope you have had some great fun building this one.

Mine is at the stage of near full completion with just some of the earlier detail bits to add. Its the painting bit that has stopped me making a final completion on my build.

Look forward to your next update.

Kind regards

Tony

Well, I actually have three months left to do, so we're not quite finished yet.

What I did do a long time ago though, was order the display case when international orders first became a thing that was possible.

Today I finally got to put it up after it spent 18 months in my office wardrobe.

I broke it 30 seconds into building it. Please be extremely careful when screwing in the side mounts for the plexy glass panels. Don't be like me and get super excited and develop spontaneous super strength. Again. Happens way too often.

Thanks Carl, I've already moved this screw way out of the way.

I don't think I'll do the C57. While it's a beautiful model it's too similar a build to the D51 in terms of what one has to do and - at the risk of sounding immodest - in the two years since I've started this I've grown beyond simple screw and glue type kits.

The D51 teached me a lot especially since I knew pretty much nothing at all about model building when I started. But I need something with more of an actual "making stuff" aspect now. When my Countach, Tomcat, Citroen, MP4-23 and King Hauler are done, I guess that's pretty much it then for me with regards to screw and glue kits. Unless something REALLY special comes along.

The Delorean would be a candidate if it ever comes out here. Too bad it largely looks like a plastic toy from what I've seen so far. Should have been done by DeAgo.

Also the window sill is full. I need a bigger office.

If you want a challenge go for a resin model. They will cause you endless hours of teeth gnashing and frustration and you will end up crying in a corner begging someone to give you 2 pieces of metal to screw together!!

Carl

OH and if you are a real masochist build a resin model that you add lighting to.

Here is a pictorial image representing before and after starting resin modelling.

I did some work with resin a few weeks ago making some "jewelry" for the girlfriend. I think I'll rather stay with wood. LOL

EDIT: Actual jewelry to wear on a chain. This is a family friendly forum.

IT IS DONE!

A little over 25 months ago I started my very first partwork, building a brass model steam engine with little to no modeling experience at all.

Today the last part was fixed to the D51.

Still needs some beauty repairs and a thorough cleaning, but for all intents and purposes every part that should be on there is now on there.

After cleanup I'm going to started up discussion with the local railroad museum (one of Germanys most important steam engine museums) about making the build a permanent display.
