Is that a die cast body? If so is this a kit or a car that you took apart yourself?

Hello derbyvet. Yes its a metal body. It is a kit you build yourself, but I have a plastic kit of exactly the same car, so I decided to do something different.BigGrin BigGrin

Paint is done. Leave it for a week now to harden off. its 2k paint, Ford Ultimate Green Pearl, base coat, mid coat and lacquer. I have tried to capture the flip in the pearl in the pictures but they really do not do it justice, the body looks fantastic.BigGrin BigGrin

I did the Airfix 1/32 wrc in that colour ( incidentaly the colour of my fiesta) with a view of mounting it on my dashboard, unfortunately my missus won't let me, but yes I love the colour too. Will be following this build.

Hi derbyvet. Not polished yet, it will be to soft, needs a a few days to harden. This is automotive 2k paint from my supplier, base coat, mid coat and 2k pearl lacquer, exactly what you would get from Ford. I am in the trade so I can get anything I want. It was painted by me with rattle cans. The company I use can supply the paint in any form I need. The nozzles on the cans give a 6 inch fan as from a LPHV set up found in spray shops. The coverage is superb, very even and never runs. Perfect for models. I am a qualified painter, so this is good practice!!!BigGrin BigGrin

Looking fantastic!!!

I have to say over here in USa the paintwork on a lot of cars leaves a lot to be desired.I have had Jeeps for years and the paintwork was always had really bad orange peel. I just leased as Lexus and boy what a difference.Nice smooth paint job-no orange peel at all.

I would love to use paint that doesn't run and goes on as nicely as the 2k paint.I do suspect though that nemesis is probably very skilled in applying paint so maybe it is the operator more than the paint that gets such great results.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Yes I do paint professionally, since I was about 20, 47 now. The paint quality does help, but how you prep the piece and apply it is also important. Even, light coats and patience!!!BigGrin BigGrin Yes it will be polished and waxed, but that wont be for a while yet. Not having a heated booth does slow the drying time a little!!BigGrin BigGrin
