small update on progress....the bottom hull is really coming along now and its great to see the engine area coming together...its only when you start getting parts like this that you realise the incredible detail of the thing....its getting to start to look like the falcon we all know and love !!!  adriuus attached the following image(s):

Congrats - it all looks very authentic. Amazing what a small feature like the engine flaps do to transform this thing into a Falcon-in-waiting. And also, what a skilled paint job does to reinforce this. So, tell us some more: are you sticking with original hull colour, or spraying first? What's your choice of materials?

just like to say thanks to you all for your inspiring comments....it really gives your confidence a boost when such talented people as yourselves give praise... in response to A thumbs question about my method of painting the model I will give some insight ....although I am a complete novice when it comes to model building I did have some background in art and design in my younger days !!!! this is my third repaint of the falcon...couldn't find a colour I was happy with ...until I discovered the excellent range of DOA paints. if you haven't tried them I can thoroughly recommend them. I prime the parts with a surface primer I found in Homebase...then onto the airbrush ...pre shade with Vallejo german grey...then the DOA esb falcon shade...highlight the panels with the DOA falcon nh shade...and give the panel edges a spray of DOA panel grime...I then use a strip of masking tape and dry brush along side it with DOA dirt streak paint and the DOA rust colouring ...any coloured panels are also done with DOA colours and then I use the Tamiya weathering kits for any other weathering.....phew !!!! what a process.. I have also found a fantastic matt varnish from the army painter range..it really dulls down the sheen of the painting a treat.. I did start off just sticking with the kit parts colouring but some of them were so far off in colouring from the next it drove me crackers... hope this is of some help to you ...and once again thanks for your input everybody....here's a few photos that I hope are of some use... adriuus attached the following image(s):

Nice work Ade, I am also using Andy's DOA paints, they are lovely for spraying, although I expect I will be using abteilung oils and Mig pigments for my weathering

Ade, that is some really great work you're doing on this build. I keep looking at the second pic in post #22. I love that effect. I don't know how you did it, but it looks amazing. Keep up the good work and keep those pics coming.

just finished work on the engine parts....the detailing of these parts is really well done and I think if the more familiar topside of the falcon continues in this quality we really are going to have something to be proud of....first of the landing leg pods will be in my grubby mitts on Wednesday...and pretty soon that moving ramp  File Attachment(s): adriuus attached the following image(s):

another week....another piece of the falcon emerges....seems to have taken ages to get to the landing leg pod parts...and its nice to see those unpainted expanses of the bottom hull getting covered over. if you haven't got these parts yet you will see there is a hole to the side of the recess (which will take the landing gear)....this is meant for the wall mount to fasten into....I think I am going to use these to attach rods to...for displaying the falcon in flight, as the wall mount tv bracket is going to cover over the majority of the underside hull... adriuus attached the following image(s):
