Hello all! I'm about to get my 3rd month's worth of parts (issues 9-12) and wanted to start a diary here. I feel that I'll never complete this because every time I check out someone else's build I want to add/change/detail something more! I'm not a pro builder and I just got back into model building after some time away so I am relearning a lot of skills that I forgot. I also did a lot of work on Halloween props and projects like a mostly cardboard R2-D2, the lifecycle of a Xenomorph Alien and soon will be building the Anovos original trilogy Stormtrooper armor kit. If interested in some pics of that stuff check out my Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/avant1963/albumsTo kick off my build diary here is my cockpit work in progress (still need some clean up and weathering on the back seats and a little more detail here and there) and the hold couch. Really enjoying checking out everyone's builds and hope I can add more to forums! Cheers!

Welcome to the forum I know what you mean about wanting to keep changing things, I started off going with a dirty interior but after doing clean corridors I decided I preferred it which now means I have to go back and redo the hold Your cockpit is looking really cool Oh and I love your R2D2

davetwin - thanks for your kind words on my Artoo - he adorns my bar and will soon be flanked by my Anovos Stormtrooper armor! Thanks for the warm welcome everyone else. Doing my best to meet the crazy standards that you guys do here. Some awesome work I keep looking at for inspiration! BTW - I blame this forum for my digression on the hold couch - the more I see everyone doing more the accurate ANH couch the more I wanted to pull off the last four back cushions (even though I spent the time to putty the backs and sand them down). So I just yanked them off and starting to putty the holes to make the more screen accurate end of the couch. Thanks everyone for making more work for me! Seriously though - this forum is such a wealth of talent and inspiration you guys can do nothing but make me a better model builder. Thanks!

Past the point of no return on the hold couch... Need to wait for the putty to dry and then repaint the whole thing and re-weather.

Starting the long, hard slog... Going to go with the Tamiya Deck Tan that Davetwin used. Just need to spend a lot of time sanding little pads.

The tamiya deck tan is a great choice and gives a good finish, to be fair I probably over exaggerated the sanding part, just take your time and you'll be fine

I know this isn't Falcon-related but it is a major step in my goal to learn painting techniques, weathering and up my skills in model-making so I can build the best Falcon I can. With a lot of help and inspiration from this group I've finished my first plastic model build in probably 10-15 years - the first using almost all airbrushing and a heavy amount of weathering. Here is my Cylon Centurion: My next non-Falcon build will be a Red-5 X-Wing so I can practice hull painting and weathering before moving on the Falcon plates. Thanks for bearing with non-Falcon pics - I'm just pretty happy with my progress over the past year and wanted to show off to a group of builders that have inspired me.

I hope you're pleased with your efforts because that does look like a job well done. The size of the Falcon does make it a daunting bit of kit to work on Persoanlly I will be waiting for all the bottom parts to be attached then I will paint it, others are doing one panel at a time.
