Great Video Jase...Thanks for sharing it mate. But didn't they say that HMS Hood's bell ought to be left where it was in respect for those lost? I wonder where they plan to keep the bell? Really enjoyed the vid..thanks again...

Hi matey,

It is a war grave so many will think it should be left in peice. It had been cinsidered to dificult to get the bell out which is the intrest in this. But i certainly see both sides having a relative drowned at sea and having an intrest in historical preservation

You're right there Jase, I too can understand the 'leave in peace' side with the Hood being a war grave.
Personally, I'm glad they did manage to recover the bell which for centuries has been considered to be the 'soul' of the ship. I almost lost a relative on her, my step grandfather was a marine who was transferred off the Hood to Devonport Dockyard at the start of the war to instruct small arms to the new recruits. The thought of that bell being returned to the Navy and being incorporated into a memorial that relatives can then visit to pay their respects seems far better than simply having it resting on the bottom of the Atlantic. To me it's as if the souls of her crew are coming home too.
