Hello everyone,

This is my first post requesting advice. I have found this forum very helpful as there are clearly some highly skilled modellers here.

I have just received my second pack for my HMS Victory build. So far so good and have completed everything from pack 1 successfully and I'm pleased with the results. Please note I am a newbie to model ship building.

My question: in the instructions for stage 16. It says to sand the keel and the ribs. Then ensure that the keel and ribs sit flush at the top. This my be a daft question. But it doesn't advise what to do in the event they are not flush. Some of my ribs seem to sit lower so the tops or them are lower than the keel top.

Do I sand the keel down? Or do I pack the ribs up? I would expect the latter, but would just like to check with you experts.

I will appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

Neil

BigGrin Hi Niel

Firstly welcome to the forum and maybe start a diary so we can see your progress and keep an eye out for any pitfalls you may encounter along the way.
As for your question you have more or less answered it yourself the ribs must be flush with the top of the false keel so the addition of packing to bring them to the correct height will be fine.
The reason the ribs must be flush with the false keel is so when the first decking goes on it will form a strong basic structure that the rest of the build goes onto.

Hello Everyone!

Wow, thank you for making me feel so welcome!

It's nice to know the support is here when committing to such a daunting project.

One more question: Where abouts on this forum are the build diaries supposed to go?

Thanks,

Neil
