OK. I know the subject might have been done to death but I have a question:

WHEN?

When do you second plank?

Surely it must be before the gun surrounds are inserted otherwise the work would be a nightmare and the surrounds need to be made out of the same timber. E.g. walnut.

Is it after the hull has been fully completed or do you do it as the build moves on?

WHEN?

I believe this model isn't designed to be second planked.

Hi Artful,
Well now theres a good one!

I am going to do the second planking after the decks are in place, and all the gunports are done, I will be coppering the bottom half so its only a matter of laying up to there I think,

I suppose its as the build progresses and see what the magazine build instructions want us to do, Thats why Im happy that I am quite a few weeks behind on the build and watching Tomicks build to see whats comming up.

Hope this makes a bit of sense, writing down what I want to say is not one of my talents !!! LOL
Happy Building, Russ

I will be puting the second layer on when the gunport linings are finished, reason:the second layer will form the rebate (rabbit) around the gunport,by cutting the second layer planks 1mm.short of the gunport surround.
