Hi Everyone I'm considering a Display Case for the model - and following the discussion on the topic in HMS Victory build... Seems to me the display case will need to be so much larger for SotS than for the Victory, thus can anyone advise final overall dimensions and total weight of the SotS model?.... I'm thinking that even 4mm toughened glass of the necessary overall size will be very heavy and clear perspex or plastic may be the best option... Advice and opinion would be greatly appreciated... Kind regards JohnP

Hi John the weight of the SoTS is approximately 5kg . Length 43in . Hight on the official stand is 34in . With 18in All these sizes are approx as all models differ by a few millimetres My case is made from 4mm glass that I had cut by a local glass merchant and I then glued it together with clear silicon then attached beading to the sides Hope this helps rgd Martyn Building ? What is the weight of your case alone?... Does it have a timber base?...and finally, can you post a picture of it?... Why I'm asking is that I would like to mount the whole thing on my wall with an "invisible" type of support. It will go where my workbench is currently located, the wall being of double brick construction... Regards JohnP

Slight problem on the picture of the case as it is my sons place at the moment and yes it has a wooden base that is made out of oak and weighs a ton as it goes on a side table I didn't worry about the weight If you are thinking of using a shelf I would make it as light as possible and go for Perspex Hope this helps rgd Martyn Building ? I will check out the glass versus perspex options from a technical point of view as I still have a strong preference for a wall mounting... The base will be Tasmanian White Oak (similar to American White Oak) - or the local timber of WA - Jarrah - which is a very hard wood deep blood red to pink in colour, but quite dense and therefore heavy. But it will contrast very nicely with the white hull of my SotS... Will keep you posted... Much appreciate your input Martyn Kind regards JohnP
