I have painted the display body and all partsand I was going to do the same with the running wings etc... However, after running the car a few times and the amount of oil and mess you generally get with Nitro RC cars. I was thinking that painting the running parts (besides the body obviously) might not be the best idea. I would hate to have to be extra fragile handling the parts for fear that I could damage the paint with fuel or exhaust.

Anyone that has painted the running parts had any problems?

Thanks!

Unburned fuel can act as a paint stripper, particularly on non-lexan paint

I have painted all the parts for the running body and also sealed the decals with 2 coats of Acrylic Humbrol Gloss Varnish which doesn't seem to burn or craze them.
I took this decision due to the unpainted parts looking too plastic and dull unlike the lexan body part. I have not run the car since so I will have to see how it goes with the paint work.

I agree. But the PS-59 and TS-53 are pretty different in terms of color too. I wonder if I just blast the running wings with pearl clear then so top coat to gloss them and then apply the decals.

I didn't use PS-53 on the running body. I took the running body to Halfords and got the paint made up!

Ok I'm at this stage debating the same thing, I've primed the running wings and am gonna give them a coat or two of PS-59, then add the stickers, what's best to seal these with?

See post #3. But be mindful that the exhaust residue may strip the sealer and paint from the rear wing.

I did not paint the front or rear of the running body. When its on the floor and going around I never really notice any difference in colours.

Then again it could just be my poor eyesight!
