If I am going to paint the upper hull black and yellow ochre should I prime the wood first? Other than what the kit instructions say about the inner bulwarks being painted brown between frame 11 and 17 should one paint the rest of the bulwarks and if so what color(white) or stain?

Hi Page,
I would only paint the upper hull after finishing the lower planking.
You dont need to prime the wood before but would be worth doing a test piece to try it. If not then a coat of sanding sealer first will help. I didn't use any sort of primer on mine.
Also the inner bulwarks for the lower deck are white. Yes its up to u whether you satin or paint but if your going down the painted route on the outside then only right to do it on the inside.
Chris.
