Hi All,
Just a couple of things I'd like to ask/say:-
1) After reading through the ASK ADMIN forum (haven't been on here in a while) I noticed there was a few people declaring that they won't be needing their figurines. I would like to chuck my hat into the ring of begging and say that I'll gladly give any excess figurines a good home and even pay the postage for their journey.
2) It's probably out there somewhere (but I'm being lazy), does anyone know how many parts this partwork is made up of?
Cheers shipmates
Kev

i seem to recall it was around the 80 mark which sounds a lot but just fore some perspective when victory went into action she would have 60 marines on her poop deck alone!! I am also on the look out for more figures anybody know a good place to purchase them? “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Same here. Available if anyone wants them.
Do you think DAG would be able to reroute them when they are ready to send out?

In response to the request for figures. It might be worth your while looking at Minifigs or Essex miniatures, both companys do a good range of napoleonic figures including naval figuerines. Although it has been quite a while since I bought any miniatures I am quite sure both companies are still in business.

Sorry just joking, I never imagined DAG would be able to do that. I still haven't got my second drill bit yet. John

To z8000783, daffy09 and benny, many thanks for the offers guys, I'll PM you when we start to receive the figurines and arrange transfer of funds to cover P&P and to give you the address to send to.
To Tomick, is that a cast in concrete 120 parts or will there be additional parts introduced towards the end?
Cheers
Kev

Admin or the call centre could confirm, but as far as I know the series will be complete and end at 120.

Hi Petpole You are talking about a dock next to Victory. It is unlikely that you would have seen Victory moored against a dock due to her large size. She would normally have been anchored at moorings such as Spithead, when at Portsmouth and in commission and would have been re-supplied by boats and lighters. Just a thought Mike T

Thanks for the information that even sounds better to me as i could build it as though she was as see being resurplied, that would mean me making supply ships of the period, if anyone has any information as to what they should look like please let me know. And if you havent reallised by now i love the pain of it all and the misses has got me on a drip for the affects. Builds in progress: HMS Victory.HMS Surprise. Hi Petpole, As far as I know the lighters in use from Portsmouth and other naval dockyards in the 1800's resembled whaleboats with a slightly shallower draft, and the ratio of beam width to overall length favouring a wider beam. Look at page 8 and 9 of issue 25 for the general idea of shape and dimensions. For a more accurate picture of the vessels used you will need to contact the dockyard museum in Portsmouth. Kev

Some more information for you Petpole. It would appear that all sorts of vessals were employed as lighters. Some of the smaller gunned ships of the 1800 - 1815 period were de-commissioned and finished their days serving as dockyard lighters after the end of the french wars. If you search for 'lighters' on the National Maritime Museum site NMM - Lighters you will find references to several plans for purpose built lighters of the period. I haven't so far found any good images to help. Mike T
