Issue 06
The Exhaust System

Lower Silencer Half Upper Silencer Half 2.3x4mm screws Right Silencer Inlet Pipe Right Exhaust Pipe Left Silencer Inlet Pipe Left Exhaust Pipe Right and Left Tailpipe.
Right and left: The terms ‘right’ and ‘left’ refer to the right or left of the car as seen from the driver’s point of view.
The lower silencer half has two cutouts at each end, for mounting the silencer inlet and exhaust pipes. Test-fit the right silencer inlet pipe into the cutout at the rear of the lower silencer half. Also check the fit of the right exhaust pipe in the cutout at the front of the lower silencer half.
Once you are happy everything fits combine the upper and lower halves of the silencer. Insert a 2.3x4mm screw into the hole in the silencer, the turn the screw a couple of rotations leaving a small gap between the ends of the silencer halves.
Hold the two halves of the silencer apart and insert the right silencer inlet pipe into the rectangular hole in the end. Hold the right silencer inlet pipe in place and insert the right exhaust pipe into the rounded hole. When both pipes are in place, tighten the screw full, making sure the mounting pins on the silencer and the pipes are all facing the same way.
Open out the other end of the silencer and insert the left silencer inlet pipe into the rectangular hole. Then insert the left exhaust pipe into the rounded hole. Secure the left end of the silencer with a 2.3x4mm screw like you did with the right side.
Take the right tailpipe and align the tip with the hole in the end of the right exhaust pipe. The tip and the hole are both D-shaped. Test-fit the tailpipe and then secure it with a drop of instant adhesive or superglue. (Whenever you use superglue, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety advice). Test-fit the tip of the left tailpipe in the end of the left exhaust pipe, then glue it into place using the same method as the right tailpipe.
Issue complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a labelled bag

Issue 7
Front Wheel and Tyre
Handling and storing parts:
The parts of your model are detailed reproductions of the parts of the original car. Because of this, they are very fragile, so it’s important to handle them with extreme care when assembling and storing them in order to avoid any damage. Pay particular attention to parts that have not yet been used, including screws. Keep them in small clear plastic bags marked with the reference number indicated in the parts list. This will help you find them more easily when you need them.
When you assemble the parts, it is recommended that you cover the work surface with a material such as foam, sponge, felt or other soft material to protect the parts against any knocks or scrapes.
The white stripes on the body are particularly susceptible to damage, so it is essential to avoid touching them any more than necessary and to keep them away from hard surfaces. Any scratches or other damage will spoil the appearance of your Mustang.
Metallic-coloured parts are also vulnerable, because the paint can easily scratch or chip.
Parts Content:
Front Wheel and Front Tyre.
Soften the tyre using a hair dryer to apply a gentle heat to make it flexible enough to fit easily onto the wheel (Do not overheat the tyre, which can warp it permanently – it needs just a little heat to soften it), then fit it onto the wheel while it is still warm ensuring the tyre is seated properly and evenly on the wheel all the way around on both sides.
Leave the wheel and tyre to one side to allow the tyre to cool and harden.
You now have two front wheels and will finish assembling your new wheel in the next stage.

Issue 08
Right Front Brake

Steering Knuckle Brake Disc Shield Brake Disk Brake Caliper 1.2x3mm screws 2.3x3mm screws Shelby Logo Wheel Cover
Take the steering knuckle and the brake disc shield, and align the studs with the holes, then push the steering knuckle into place on the brake disc shield.
Now hold the brake disc with its flat side facing the knuckle and disc shield assembly. Then fit the two together by pushing the spindle through the hole in the centre of the brake disc. The disc should rotate freely on the spindle.
Slide the brake caliper over the brake disc in the recessed area of the shield so that the holes of both are aligned, then fix the parts together with a 1.2x3mm screw. The disc should now be held in place by the caliper, but it should still be able to rotate freely.
Take the brake disc assembly and insert it into the inside of the wheel. Rotate the assembly until the lug on the wheel fits into one of the notches in the brake disc.
Finish off by pushing the Shelby logo wheel cover into the hole in the centre of the wheel, covering the screw.

Issue 09
Left Door and Side Mirror

Care of Parts: It is important to handle and store your parts carefully, whether they are to be used in the assembly stage they come with or during later stages. Some parts are very fragile, and must be protected against any scratches and bumps that might damage the paintwork or even the parts themselves.
Take the left side mirror and note the shape of its base. Now hold the left door with the inside facing up. Insert the base of the mirror into the slot in the door. After placing the mirror base into the slot, position it so that it rests on the posts on the inside of the door. The holes in the base should align with the holes in the posts, now fix the mirror to the door with two 1.8x3.5mm screws.
Next, align the pins of the door handle with the corresponding holes in the door and push the handle into place. Tighten a 1.2x3mm screw into the post on the inside of the door to secure the handle.

Issue 10
Left Window and Door Hinge

Spare parts: Some extra screws and other parts may be provided as spares. Store them safely in labelled plastic bags, so that you can identify them easily should you need them.
Retrieve the left door and place it on your work surface with the inside facing up ensuring you handle it carefully to avoid damaging the mirror or handle, perhaps use a towel or soft tissue to put it on so you don’t scratch the paintwork.
Locate the three posts and hold the window locating the three holes along the bottom edge over the three posts on the door. Check that the cutout in the window is properly positioned over the base of the mirror and then push the window down onto the posts.
Half-tighten a 1.8 x 3.5mm screw into the hole in the window nearest the front of the door. Half-tighten another two 1.8 x 3.5mm screws into the other two holes in the window and then fully tighten all three screws to secure the window in place.
Hold the hinge, next to the front edge of the door with the long straight edge facing away from the door. Place the hinge into the grove at the front of the door and then align the holes in the hinge plate with the pins on the door. Lower the plate into position so that it covers the hinge and fix in place with a 2.3 x 4mm screw.
Check that the hinge pivots freely, so that it will allow you to open and close the door once it is fitted to the car. If the movement is restricted, loosen the screw slightly.
Issue complete, carefully store any remaining parts in a labelled bag.
