Hi all,
was anyone able to fit the tyre onto the wheel? Maybe my hairdryer is not getting hot enough but I can't make it fit.

I always find that to get an even heat and make the tyre more pliable, I submerse it in very hot water for 5 mins.

Tyre is on the wheel. It worked easily with very hot water. Thank you Nemesis.

Top advice by Nemesis, saves any awkward questions from the other half while using her hairdryer Another is to apply a bit of washing liquid to help the tyre slide on. Will you be sharing a build log with us

I'd echo that.
freshly boiled water in a wee bowl, submerse the tyre for several minutes, a 'smidge' of fairy liquid and it pop's right on.
(Damn near 'herniated' myself trying it with the hairdryer!!!)

I lay my tyres on a radiator for about 15 mins.
This time of the year the heating is on.
Tyre goes on in seconds and doesn't need any drying.

Can't seem to be able to get the tyres warm enough with any method, possibly not helped by living 2,500 or so above sea level where water boils at 98.5 C not 100 C.
Need some ideas!

I fitted the remaining 4 tyres on mine by soaking in just below boiling water for about 4-5 mins, so my water was probably around 95 degrees too.
Dry the tyre as quickly as you can.
Push the wheel into the tyre as far as it will easily go, then lay the tyre on a solid surface with the remaining part of the protruding wheel uppermost.
Put a folded tea-towel over it all and just press down on the wheel rim VERY hard with your hand.
The wheel will 'pop' into the tyre.
Adjust as required.
The folded towel is just to stop the metal rim digging into your hand.
Each of my 4 tyres was fitted into the warm tyre in around 15-20 seconds.

I finally have all four tyres on their rims, waited a bit over 5 minutes / tyre. Also had to reheat the water in the microwave between each tyre.

when i got my tires on i used a screwdriver as a pry bar, made me wonder if we needed a machine like the use at the garage to mount them ?  LOL....
