Alan

I guess at the end of the day its how YOU want it to look rather than HOW its expected to look but my understanding is that WW2 aircraft on the whole were MATT in order to stop reflections which could be seen by enemy aircraft overhead. Apparently its one of the reasons the prop went over to a black finish.

You may see references to aircraft having a slight sheen when wet so I guess in those instance a satin finish might be appropriate.

If I was building this one (as I have done plastic versions of the Spitfire) I would be aiming for a matt finish but as I say its really a personal thing.
Happy Modelling

Hi Tony

I think what it is for me is seeing aircraft in a museum in a nice shiny
finish but I guess that is just because they're on show, matt it is!

Thank you

Regards

Alan
