Hi John!  Answer are around about:- 1:- 25mm 2:- 50mm 3:- 451mm 4:- 128mm 5:- 113mm Hope this help you mate!

7 days to go and I'll be back looking forward to planking the Hull.
Have been busy in the meantime building a jig to lay the model upside-down. I haven't finished the top planking yet but decided to move on so as not to do any damage to my labours.
Are there any downsides to doing this I am unaware off?
As always thanks guys and I suspect this thread may get busy again over the next few weeks - or months.

So at last, have put knife to wood for the first time since February, and finishing of the middle deck gun ports.
Next step will be using my new curling tongs to help plank the hull. Fair bit of work over the next few weeks I think.
I have missed being here and working on her, I must say.

Welcome back John! Your ship has missed you! Good luck with the curling tongs, but don't curl the planks to much, your hull doesn't want a PERM!  I'll look forward to seeing your next pictures mate.

OK all those ahead of me put down the sails for a moment and take yourself back to last year. I am sure this has been covered but I just want to check before I continue.
Just finishing off cutting out the gun ports on the middle gun deck and have drilled as per the pic. Notice the holes are in the main support strips and not the extensions pieces. They are all 1mm to 2mm below the top. I can see how some are close and would break the top but none are actually in the extension piece.
I am really just looking for confirmation that everything is OK to continue.

The extension pieces stop the drilled holes breaking out and appear to be drilled ok, just make sure that the pieces are securely glued so as not to come loose later on when inserting the dummy barrels.

Just to say I have been busy while away from the ship and to say thanks to Darron (again) for the dimensions. The jig is to help me plank the hull so I had to leave the rest of the top planking for a while. Not the best carpentry in the world but it only cost £2-£3 pounds. Ready for the 'Long Walk' now. John

I have a question way back in ancient history at Issue 32.
It says that you start the lower planking at 18, 17, 16 & 18 again fixing the centre planks and bows.
The first 3 I can follow but surely the last one overlaps the other 3 before the stern planks have been laid as in issue 33.
Am I missing something here?

The first three layers continue down the sides of the hull and the planks extending back to frames 25, 24 and 23; have a look at the photos in my diary build for 32.

Thanks Tomic, I see now.
On another point, in the instructions it talks about using a dropper very soon after the starting the lower hull, but I don't even need to taper the first plank and probably not the second either.
Looking at Darron's build the first dropper doesn't appear until the 5th and 6th layers and I think mine will be similar.
Just confirming this is OK.

Just thought I would take a break from planking and work on the barrels for a while. Here's a great little tool for cutting the ends.Not perfect but will look OK once stained I think. Machine Mart   John
