Pack 7 contains Stages 63-65

Stage 63 – The hood and the headlights

Contains parts –

Left hood hinge
Right hood hinge
Left headlight hinge
Right headlight hinge
Double-sided tape
Door sill strips × 2
Type P screws × 13
Type FF screws × 4
Hood stay

Identify the front and rear of the door sill strips, as well as the top and the bottom.

Peel one of the strips of double-sided tape from the backing paper and apply it to the bottom of the sill strip.
Peel the backing paper from the strip of double-sided tape on the sill strip, and align the strip with the sill on the inside of the left door. Fix the front edge of the door sill strip in place first, and then work back along the sill to fix the rest of it.
Repeat for the right door sill strip.
Align the hole at the end of the right hood hinge with the hole in the hood (Stage 51). Secure with a type FF screw and then repeat for the other hinge.
Align the metal hinges of the hood with the corresponding slots in the body. Slide the hood hinges under the body, towards the front and slowly lower the hood to close it. Apply masking tape to hold the hood temporarily in place.
Turn the body over and secure the hood with four type P screws.
Turn the body back over and lift the hood up. If the movement is too stiff or loose, try slightly loosening or tightening the type FF screws (Steps 12 and 14).
Turn the body over and place the headlight assembly (Stage 58) into position. Fit the headlight mounting bar into the brackets, pushing the headlights through the body, into the ‘open’ position.
Secure the left and right headlamp hinges with four type P screws.
Turn the body over and push the headlights up from below. The headlights should remain raised when pushed up.
Tightening and loosening the screws holding the hinges in place will alter their grip on the headlight mounting bar, allowing you to tighten the grip if the headlights won’t remain raised.

Stage complete.

Push the brake servo into place on the side of the engine compartment.
Apply masking tape over the areas of the body that can open, such as the headlights and the hood. Turn the body over, and align the holes in the top of the grille (Stage 53) with the holes in the posts. Place the grille into position on the posts and secure with two type C screws.
Align the holes in the engine compartment with the corresponding holes in the underside of the body and adjust it so that all the holes are aligned.

Align the holes in the dashboard (Stage 60) with the holes in the body and position the steering shaft in the U-shaped cut-out in the underside of the engine compartment.
Lower the dashboard into place, keeping the holes aligned and secure with two type P screws.
Take the left rear number plate light and push the pin on it into the hole in the left rear bumper, repeat for the right number plate light and the right rear bumper.
Align the pins on the inside of the tail lights with the holes in the body and push into place.

Open the right service hatch and locate the oval hole, which is where the battery cables will fit. Align the pins in the back of the battery (Stage 60) with the circular holes in the engine compartment.
Push the battery into place, keeping the ends of the battery cables outside of the service hatch then push the battery cable nearest the oval hole into the hole and pull it through from the inside. Then push the second battery cable through the hole.

Stage 65 – Complete the model

Contains parts –

Frame support A
Frame support B
Right rear valance
Rear number plate frame
Left rear valance
Rear number plate
Type MM screws × 3
Double-sided tape
Type II screws × 5

Place the body upside down on a soft towel or cloth to protect it from scratching. Tighten two type II screws into the hole in the body aligned with the centre of the left and right rear bumper, to secure them in place.
Secure the left and right tail lights with two more type II screws.

Place the cabin floor (Stage 34) into the body aligning the holes in the cabin floor with the corresponding holes in the body and secure with six type DD screws.
Turn the assembly back over. Open the hood to expose the engine. Plug the hose extending from the radiator filler into the hole in the engine compartment.
Place the body onto the chassis, making sure that the engine is properly located in the engine compartment. Close the hood and turn the model over. Check that the holes of the chassis are aligned with the corresponding holes in the body.
When fitting screws in the following steps, only half-tighten them into the holes, just enough to hold the parts together.

Tighten two type CC screws (Stage 43, 49 or 64) into the holes forward of the engine.
Place frame support B over the bottom of the chassis, aligning the holes of both and secure with two type CC screws.
Place frame support A onto the underside of the chassis, aligning the holes of both and secure with two type N screws.
Remove the left and right rear wheels with the cross wrench and tighten two type DD screws into the wheel arches.
Tighten two more type DD screws into the rear of the chassis and a further two into the holes in the chassis plate behind the front wheels.
Align the holes in the posts of the front valance (Stage 62) with those in the body and secure with two type MM screws, hide both screws with the screw covers supplied in Stage 61, Push them into place until they are flush with the valance.
Fit the left and right rear valances by pushing them into place.

Turn the body the right way up and open the hood. Insert the pin of the ignition coil into the hole between the front of the engine and the radiator.
Insert the pin of the radiator hose into the hole in the hose connector, both from Stage 39 then place it on the tip of the heater hose.
Insert the end of the hose into the hole at the top right corner of the radiator.
Align the hole in the hood stay with the hole in the underside of the hood and secure with a type JJ screw, open and close the hood to ensure that it moves smoothly. If it is too stiff or too loose, adjust the type JJ screw.
Prepare the left and right mirrors (Stages 5 and 23) by peeling the protective film from them with masking tape then push them into the holes in front of the side badges.

Fit the hub nuts to the wheels.

Fix the rear number plate to the rear number plate frame with the double-sided tape, in the same way as you fixed the front number plate in Stage 13 then push into place on the rear of the model.

Finally, fit the front number plate (Stage 13) onto the front of the car, and remove the tape holding all the parts down.
