Issue 1 and 2 arrived today so straight into putting it together.

The parts are very nice indeed BigGrin

In issue 1 we start by attaching the cockpit back panel to the rear of the cockpit base. Then 2 side panels are added to the front sides.

We then add the two pedals in the front followed by the front collective stick. These are all just push fit.

There is then a tiny power leaver that needs to be carefully inserted into the control panel, again just a push fit. The left and right control panels are then attached to the cockpit base along with a keyboard unit.

Issue two continues assembling parts for the cockpit.

First of all we assemble the 2 seats by attaching armoured wings to either side of each seat. A lower and upper frame are then added to each seat. Once these are done we add the rear collective leaver before inserting the rear seat, this is then secured in place with a screw.

The front seat is then inserted and also secured with a screw.

So far this is looking very nice, the cockpit base is metal so is quite weighty already Cool

Thanks Michu

I've been playing with my camera settings after reading your post BigGrin

It's not quite so prominent in these pictures but I turned the exposure up a bit by accident, you notice it way more in a test video I did. Will dial that back down for my next set of photos Cool

Looks a great bit of kit. Gonna see if its available here. Detail isnt too bad could do with a touch of weathering.

Just for those that don't know that might be wondering about the sharkmouth decal, the Apache depicted is the AH-64D Apache Longbow 99-5102 of B Company 1-3 ATKHB, 3rd Infantry Division US Army, southern Iraq, 2003. The 1-3 AVN is known as 'Vipers'.
All 'Vipers' Apache were decorated with a white 'sharkmouth' painted on the forward area of the avionics sponson, which was inspired by the markings applied to the unit's AH-1G Cobra's in Vietnam.

Dave,

Yesterday I saw your initial AH-64 posting while checking my own build. I was really confused as you just starting talking about the build but I could not figure out where the model came from! Also only a few pictures loaded and I was really scratching my noggin. After becoming totally mentally challenge I got to the de-Agonistino UK website and the fog lifted.Cool

This kit is not available over the pond as of yet. This is a big sucker! Almost 31 inches long. Where will you put it? And at 8.99 GPB an issue, 100 issues is $1,312.54 USD.Blink Of course and pricing assumptions by me are just a SWAG but, WOW!

It looks impressive and I will have fun watching progress. I do question functioning features and electric motors in a scale presentation but there is a lot of room in it!

Is everything metal? One pic of the interior showed some light gray piping with a lot of flashing. Easy to clean up on plastic. This model screams for super detailing and there are resources galore available.BigGrin Oh, do not leave this ship clean. They were badly weathered by the environment and by hydraulic oil. Choppers are dirty animals, i know.

Best of luck and have fun!

Tom

Thanks Tom

The piping is plastic with the cockpit tub being metal so any flash on the piping will be easily cleaned up, you're right there will be plenty of scale for super detailing this but will certainly built into an amazing looking model without any additional work. Drool

Just so you know, the Apache is a UK only Market Test that will not progress beyond Issue 5. Then over the next few months it will be decided to release this as a full collection or not, which may end up in the USA in the same way our Mustang and Falcon have.

Dave

I can see you are enjoying this one.

Its a kit that passed me by and this post along with the one by Michu are the first I have seen of it.

Really hope you get to build this one through to completion as its a very nice choice for such a large model.
Happy Modelling
