Buying the remaining packs, 17 of them, was the best decision for me. I've progressed very quickly (having a very understanding wife), I've attached some pics of said progress. I've made a few mistakes along the way but there is always a way around them, you just need to know how to get round them!! Finally decided on Humbrol 36 (matt) for the interior colour. Model is coming along nicely without too many difficulties other than there are not enough hours in the day to make it! Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

Thanks for your comment Alan.
My biggest concern was that some of the wing plates were slightly dented,
but having looked at the way some panels are fitted to the real aircraft
there's not a lot of difference so using that to my advantage and actually
looks realistic!
I've just got to find somewhere to conceal the engine sound PCB and speaker
and just ordered the landing gear motor.

If you resize you photos to around 450x600 they will appear as images rather than downloads

Hi Alan, Looking forward to viewing your latest pictures, it is always a pleasure to see how you are getting on, as we speak I can here a Spitfire flying around from Biggin Hill guess it has been in for a service as it was flying around yesterday. Hello Trev My wife was living in New Addington when we met and one year the airshow was on we saw a spitfire and ME109 in a dogfight at low level, this was just something else, god knows what it must have been like living in the area during the war-the distinct sound of the Merlin is just unbeatable Who doesn't love a Spitfire?!! I'll post some pics ASAP, I've been trying to resize the photos-without luck-must hone my PC skills! Hope your BH is going ok? Cheers Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

Wasn't happy with the fuselage panels so made the decision to tidy them up
using a polyester filler. Not a decision I made lightly,there was a compromise over
the rivet effect but I will overcome that once I have finished the build.
I searched the internet for how the panels look on the real aircraft and compared them to mine and hundreds of different Spitfire models of all scales, and decided it was best to go along the 'filler' route. I am very happy with the look now and although good progress is being made it is a worthwhile time-consuming task.
I have never undertaken a model like this before but I know once it's done it will look good-I'll make sure of it!

Different yes, looks good in the flesh! I admit it is extra work but definitely worth it. I was worried about the rivet marks but I think I have a solution thanks to our friends in the US.
My intention now is to grind the pin heads down to the size of the rivets and add more rivets accordingly. I have been practising and I think it will work but will require a lot of effort.
Where I have used filler, naturally the plate edges are now not visible but a small
engraving tool set at the right depth should resolve this.
Progress has gone slow again at the moment due to work commitments but hopefully wont be too long before I can get back onto it!
I will be spraying it.
Hope all is well with your model and yourself of course.

Tow more pics of the engine (dry test). I've noticed the port side exhaust mainfold is upside down (note the machined marks). Quick rub down, all sorted!

Been busy working on the spitfire since 07.30 this morning, making good progress.
I must confess I am keen to get it finished to see it in all its glory!
The fuselage looks a mess at the moment as I have been using it to test different paints, filler and the rivet decals. The rivet decals are quite good but slightly smaller than they should be but I think I'm going to stick with them.
However I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hoping to have the cockpit interior finished by Thursday.

Been a bit of a challenge I must say! Only ever made
plastic kits before up to 1/24th, however now its taking shape I'm really
pleased with it and cannot wait to get it on the stand as I have a plan
for it but need to keep that quiet for now in case it doesn't work out-watch this space!

Alan, Just catching up on the Spitfire builds, looking at that Merlin engine and cockpit you have made an outstanding job of it, looking along the fuselage it all seems to be shaping up very well, I will be interested in the paint work when you have completed it. I'm one of those people if I painted it and it wasn't right I'd rub it all
down and start again! Perfection springs to mind or my wife's preferred choice-OCD!!
