Morning Trev. Thank you. I'm itching to complete now that it is taking shape. I've been quite indecisive about which way to go and what to do to make it look as good as it can but I think the route I have taken is paying off even though a little more time and effort is required. Has anyone actually ever finished the Spitfire build-I haven't seen any photos-it would be nice to see some completed kits. Have a restful Sunday. Regards. Alan ALW attached the following image(s):

Hi Alan, Ailerons are looking very smart nice job and I am very pleased your build is going the way you have planed as some times we have the opposite, as for a finished Spit build I am sure the Spanish guy's have built it may be Mr T knows more. Hi Trev. Thank you. I've just painted the removable panel attached pic, (which I will be securing with micro screws) but I've noticed a slight blemish on the paintwork so will correct that tomorrow when its dry. Just ordered some rivets and panel lines ready for the fuselage which is nearly finished. I have been waiting for some extra plates which arrived today so will get on with that tomorrow. Once these panels are fitted it will just be a case of applying the rivets and paint! Well hopefully. Then focus on the wing-a few tidy up bits and that will nearly be it. Hows your build going? Cockpit door fitted. As you can see from my recent photos I have started painting the camouflage, but ran out of the dark green so duly ordered some more, continued painting, only to discover the second can I bought was a considerably lighter shade of green! Same manufacturer, same codes-I would maybe accept a subtle difference but it is very noticeable. I've asked for some technical advice as I have never experienced this before. Never mind! The wing is nearly finished, will post a picture once I have primed it. Regards to all Alan PS. Please don't take too much notice of the 'messy' look of the fuselage, it's more work in progress! Received my panel strips and rivets today. They are a real bonus as they will allow me to enhance the aesthetics of the finished model.
I have 1 more plate to fit, LEDs fitted now, all the other parts are painted ready
to be fitted as soon as I have tidied up the fuselage and applied the rivets.

Paint problem. I bought two identical tins of aerosol paint dark green 163 but if you look at the picture you'll see the difference in shade! Looks like I've got to do a re-spray once Humbrol get back to me. Good job I didn't do the whole model! ALW attached the following image(s):

Although I haven't finished this build yet I thought I would post a list of materials I used to help anyone who needs it!
It's been a bit trial and error with adhesives etc so here is what I used.
Super glue precision max and gel
Gripfill (excellent gap filling adhesive, came in very handy in a couple of places)
U-pol extra, polyester aluminium filler
Ronseal woodfiller (again excellent product, quick dry, easy sand.
Evo-stick Multi-Purpose Time bond, contact adhesive.
Hycote etch primer
Cockpit and airframe paint-colour RAL 6019, pastel green, satin, made by Mr aerosol.These are custom filled,in my case suitable for wood.
UHU white tac
Humbrol dark green 163, satin
Humbrol mid sea grey 165, satin (for the underside)
Humbrol sea grey, matt (for topside)
Rivet and panel lines from Mick reeves, these are excellent!
Not much to say about the build itself, it had some awkward to fit parts, and I didnt like the look of the pin heads showing on the fuselage so I filed them down to a point where they will keep the panels in place but cant be seen.
I'm still toying with the idea of doing the same to the wing but that's going to be really involved (I haven't pinned the underside panels), I'm going to paint the wings first and make a decision then whether or not to file the pins down at that point.
Hope this helps someone. I have received a lot of help, advice, and suggestions from some very knowledgeable people on this forum of which I am very grateful,so wanted to give a bit back.

Nice work Alan, looking very good and not too far to go now until it's finished as you say? Shame about the mismatched paint but I'm sure you'll end up with a good result - well done!!

Thanks and yes the paint's holding me up now. I bought the original tin direct from Humbrol too!
I'm looking forward to the finishing touches, and really looking forward to
seeing the undercarriage, lights and prop working-I don't think I'll ever grow up!

That's a superb photo Alan, from a great angle and nice to see inside a fully fitted cockpit, which I think you've done a great job of by the way. The windshield looks like it will fit very well without need for much filler when you come to glue it in place permanently and you have achieved a nice curve to the canopy framework - well done!!
