Beautiful work  The close up showing the rivets really shows off how well this has been put together and painted, great job having the patience to do all those rivets as it really adds to the finished model

Excellent work Alan, very nice indeed.
Seeing your wing on the bench like that with the roll of masking tape and the pot noodle cups for a size reference, really gives a sense of scale and emphasises just how big this model really is - it looks huge!!

It is a large model, the largest I've ever made.
Can't wait to get it on the stand!
Just a few hours of work left and that'll be it!

There are a few minor imperfections but to be honest it's lost in the vastness of this huge model.
I've found myself just staring at it, almost like I want to climb into it!!

Nice one Alan, You have done a terrific job all round on that model. I would agree that it is large, mine seems to dominate my working space, hope I reach somewhere near your high standards. Alec Built: Bluenose, Arab Dhow, HMS Bounty, Hummer H1, D51, Spitfire,E type Jaguar.

Hi all Couldn't resist posting this - a pre finish photo  The engine cover needs a little tweak but this model looks fantastic in the flesh! I'm waiting for a replacement 'docking piece' for the stand as the one I received didn't have any pre drilled holes for the screws! Thanks for looking in Regards. Am surprised you hadn't noticed your docking piece wasn't pre-drilled during your assembly of it at post #31.
The pre-drilled holes are shown in the first photo of the display stand topic and also at Step 8 of the display stand instructions supplied with the stand shown below.
The docking piece fits onto the underside of the model as shown on the instructions photo copied below., can you not pin-point from the photo as to where the holes need to be drilled?
Its likely you will be sent a complete display stand, the warehouse cannot extract an individual item from an acc's kit as there is no barcode for the item for the system to recognise it being sent.Tomick attached the following image(s):

Well I completely missed that.
Not a problem with a replacement stand
I ll send it straight back.
I know you mentioned before they won't
accept returns but I ll make the effort and
send it anyway.
Thanks for pointing this out, a little embarrassing
but at least I didn't break into the replacement!

You have painted your stand, therefore do not return it as it cannot be returned to stock, it will also save you from having to paint the replacement stand.
The rule of thumb is to read the instructions twice over before doing anything, it can save an awful lot of frustration and heartache later on.

Not returning my stand, I will be returning the new replacement stand.
And you are absolutely right read twice!!
We are however all human and liable to make mistakes which
I clearly did-to my cost but I'll get over it!

Alan I think you have done a great job on this one and i for one would be very pleased with a result such as this. Your pictures have really shown just how big a model this is and it looks brilliant. Very well done. Happy Modelling
