Hi everyone and thanks for your comments.BigGrin
Wheels are now fitted to the howitzer, transport dolly to do next. Here are some pics of the howitzer, its not finished yet, still got mud and dust to add, but I thought it would be good to show it before and after dirt!.BigGrin

Fabulous weathering as always Daran, it looks very realistic and hard to tell that it isn't actually made of real metal - the finish is spot on!!

Very well done mate. Drool Cool ThumpUp

Hi Dave and thanks for your comment and looking in. BigGrin
I have started on the towing dolly and its wheels. I will give a sort of tutorial as I go, and what colours I use, although it varies from model to model depending on the base colour scheme.
The chips and scratches are done in Tamiya hull red, and using a fine tip brush I pick out high points, corners and bolt heads that would be knocked easily, also high wear areas like handles , towing eyes and linkages. the scratches are done the same way, but very lightly using only the tip of the brush. It needs to be as non uniform as possible, so be as random as you want, just don't go mad as its easy to overdo it! Don't worry about them looking to bold and bright, as you add layers and washes they will blend and soften.BigGrin

So the next step for the towing dolly was to pick out some of the heavier chips and scratches. Again using a fine tip brush I added gun grey over the hull red to give the impression of metal showing through. Next step will be to give everything a light wash of diluted sepia. This will be done over a few coats to build up the desired finish. its easier to add than take away.BigGrin

The washes have been done and also a pin wash to pick out bolt heads and brackets. Once this is dry I will dry brush with gun grey and then a coat of matt varnish.BigGrin

Hello all and thanks for your comments. The dry brushing is underway, then a coat of matt clear. Dust and mud will be done on the engine and howitzer together to get it even and the same shades.
The first 2 pictures give you a before and after of the dry brushing on the blades so you get an idea of the effect, it is done lightly so you can build it up on high wear areas. The other pictures are of it all done before the matt coat.BigGrin
