Yes indeed, a nice kit Tom, though mine is still resident somewhere in my stash unfortunately, though I have made a start on the other Italeri 1:9 Military Motorcycle kit that I reviewed - the Harley Davidson WLA 750 - which has proven to be a troublesome build with a lot of prep work and rectification required to get it looking sensible! I only hope the Triumph 3HW doesn't turn out to be the same.
Good luck with your build Al, it'll be nice to see one come together.

Thanks Kev, Can't say I have done any Italeri/Esci bikes before but I have done a fair few of the aircraft and have found them to be very good on the whole so hoping this goes as well.
It will make a change from partworks so am looking forward to it.

No need to do a review of the kit as Kev has already done an excellent one, see link below. http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=17352
The only thing I would add is that there are no part numbers on the sprues so you need to check with the parts layout at the start of the instruction sheet. Lets kick off with a couple of pics of the parts. As per the instructions I started with the engine parts which on the hole fitted together reasonably well. The cylinder head alone has 13 parts to it. After a bit of a clean up they were primed and then given a coat of aluminium paint. Next I tackled the frame and the numerous seam lines it had. Care must be taken cleaning the rear subframe up as in this scale they are a bit flimsy. It was at this point I realised I had been spoilt by the chunky metal frame work of the quarter scale bikes and that it must have been a few years since my last plastic kit build. After establishing the correct pair of engine mounts and there orientation I added them to the frame rather than the engine as I thought it would make the engine mounting easier at a later date. The parts have been primed and ready for the frame colour to be added. That's it for now thanks for looking Al Spal attached the following image(s):

Nice looking kit. Will it be straight from the box or are you going into weathered, dio etc? Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Not sure yet, I have an idea for a dio but that may change. Al

Great start Al
It's a pain when you have to keep looking to the instructions to match up the part numbers with frets, I found that White Ensign photo etch is the same.

Have assembled a few more parts and primed them ready for painting. The fuel tank construction is perhaps over complicated as it consists of 8 parts when in my opinion 3 would have been better for strength and ease of construction. Also the rear mudguard is in 2 pieces, with no locating pins to help for joining them I opted to fit the rear carrier at the same time as gluing them together to help keep things positioned correctly and give it a little strength. Having decided to do the dark green version rather than the olive drab one, I have sprayed several parts prior to assembly. With the head now painted and added to the crankcases the assembly was fitted into the frame and the other frame half added. A closer look at the engine, although a few touch ups are needed and some details need to be picked out on the head it is mostly complete. This is certainly not in the same quality zone as a Tamiya bike kit and not one I would recommend as someones introduction to model bikes, but that said it does kind of grow on you. That is coming along really well. I think they over complicate some parts of a kit just to make up part numbers and give you something to stick together, when, like you say, 3 parts max would suffice and look so much better. Enjoying watching this coming together.

Nice work Al, you're certainly forging ahead with this build and it's looking great - well done!!
I sympathise with you, and totally agree with what you say Al, having part-built (about 50% done) their Harley Davidson WLA 750 Army bike, which is equally over engineered with more parts than necessary being used to build up what is often quite a simple structure - very frustrating and very time consuming!!

Really looking good, I think the worst kit manf for over engineering is Hasegawa - who seen to use 25 parts when 5 will do, nice for a challenge but if there is no extra detail at the end then really its just to boost the parts count. Steve
