Hi Fellow Shipmates,

As anyone heard anything else about how/when/cost of the copper plates or strips? as the wales are in place and things are moving on to the upper decks it would be nice to finish all the hull detailing first! Perhaps Admin could let us know whats happening?

I DO NOT WANT THIS TO END UP LIKE MIKE TURPIN'S POST FROM A FEW MONTHS AGO.
I know we have to buy it, That does not bother me, I just want to see what my options are !!!!!!!

SO UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING USEFUL TO SAY, DONT BOTHER!!
Sorry in advance if the last comment upsets you, it is not my intension.BigGrin

Hi Russ,
The last thing I heard about copper plating was that DeAg would be offering it as an optional extra round about issue 59. (I can't say for certain but I believe Tomick mentioned it somewhere, although my apologies to him if that's not correct).
I hope they do because that's the way I would like to go with my build. It will only be a viable option if they are the correct scale however. Like yourself, I've got no objection to buying anything that would be an improvement to the basic build, but I hope they can come with something before we get too far into the rest of the build - we'll soon be at a stage where turning the model upside down will not be an option.
Happy building

Thanks for that Daffy, 59! not long then, perhaps Tomick might be able to find out for us! Like you said I want to get the bottom sorted before I do anything on the upper decks!!!BigGrin

No further update other than what I previously noted via Admin:

For those not wanting to undertake the laborious task of copper tiling, at around issue 57 copper paint will be supplied as part of the series, which should be enough to coat the hull twice.

For those wanting to go the route of copper tiling, at the same time, a copper tiling pack will be made available to purchase via the online DeAgostini shop.

Hi there

We are aiming to have the copper paint supplied with issues 64 and 65 but this is still subject to confirmation. I'll post an update once I have the final details.

Thanks

Can someone please tell me how big the copper plates would be at this scale. Thinking of ordering some copper tape at either 5/32" or 3/16" and how many rolls i will need if there 36yrds long. Would wait for Deag to come up with goods and price but too me i would prefer to do hull before all decking starts going in and to be honest no confidence in Deag coming good.

What if we don't want copper paint? Are you going to supply us with some stain or varnish instead.
Come on you Jimmies

What's the point in giving copper paint?
If you want it BUY it, we stainers should get a refund or discount on that issue. After all I'm sure there will be another thread about how bad the copper paint is and that there is better stuff out there, just as there seem to be threads on how poor this bit or that thing is
Come on you Jimmies
