Sadly I think that 'new' Pocher has lost the plot, prices alarmingly falling and more new colours of the Aventador due in 2017 - what ever happened to what modellers were hoping for with a resurgence of what Pocher became famous for, rather than the Aventador being milked to death.... I would much prefer to see some of the old designs re-released with a modern day content.
Pocher history - The resurgence of a legend.
Arnaldo Pocher was born in 1911 in Trento, Italy. He trained as a goldsmith engraver and went to work in Turin. After World War II, he formed Pocher Micromeccanica, and later Corrado Muratore and Arnaldo Pocher, all producing various items of equipment for model rail buyers.
In 1966, Pocher revealed the kit that made its name: a 1:8 scale Fiat F2, race-winning car of the 1907 French Grand Prix. The model had a galaxy of components - 144 in plastic, 173 brass, 506 more in steel, copper, leather, rubber and aluminium. The Fiat set the scene for many more Pocher kits, including classics from Alfa Romeo, Mercedes-Benz and Rolls-Royce, all based on official manufacturers’ plans and specifications. For the auto model world, Pocher kits represented - and still do - the peak of achievement.
Things changed with the 1970's sale of the Pocher company to another famed Italian model company, "Rivarossi", itself a brand now owned by Hornby. Arnaldo Pocher, meantime, left the company; he died in 1989.
Pocher was bought by Hornby in 2004, after its then-owner, the Italian Lima group, had gone bankrupt. An announcement was made by Hornby in December 2012 of a Pocher relaunch, under the promo label, ‘Resurgence of a Myth.’
The Nuremburg Toy Fair in January 2013 saw the official presentation which showed the first new Pocher kit: the 1:8 scale Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 in arancio metallic orange. https://youtu.be/BtqTO67skOg

Total agree with that, would love to be able to see some of the old kits redone. But at those prices I just had to have one, I wasnt going to pay full price for one after buying the Ducati. My Favourite Building:- 1919 https://forum.model-spac...=339517&#post339517 -

I thought that most of the original molds for the Pocher cars were destroyed or lost and that is why they couldnt release the original kits again?
I have built a few Pocher classic cars and they are challenging to say the least. The 1/8 model space kits are a much easier and less stressful to build. I have the Aventador and it is pretty good, but not as good as the model space lambo which I also have.

Hornby have most of them, but the problem lies with them not now being suitable to use because of age, but they do have the design plans.
The current Pocher range is no where near as detailed as the old Pocher kits.

Absolutely Mr T.
I really think Pocher (Hornby) were hoping to grab a whole new breed of younger 'biggie' modellers with a modern day supercar.
In reality, the vast majority of modellers who can afford to shell out £500 on a kit in one hit (as opposed to part works) are older people who wanted more of the classic range, not a 200mph cheese-wedge.
Just releasing umpteen colour variants, a spider version, and now, the Hurracan - IF it ever gets a release - it's been put back a year already... what can I say? At a glance, it's the Aventador with tweaks. Sorry Pocher. You shot yourself in the foot.
If they had released the Lambo Miura instead of the Aventador, still a Lambo license, I'm sure they would have sold double the number.
I wonder if Pocher will still exist in 18 months? I hope so.

So do you guys think a re-release of the Rolls or the Bugattis would sell better.
I have the Bugatti and it was going for silly money on ebay a while back, but I just couldnt part with it because it is really nice.Maybe there just isnt a big enough market for these kits anymore? It seem like model factory hiro is doing well-they keep releasing 1/12 and 1/24 kits that are very pricey-BUT they are also amazingly detailed too.
They were already having some issues towards the end.The porsche and the redone mercedes with the plastic wheels were a big step down from the original kits.
I always wanted to build one of the Pocher Rolls Royce kits.

darbyvet wrote:So do you guys think a re-release of the Rolls or the Bugattis would sell better. without doubt yes, simply because these were mega kits by comparison of the latest breed which are a watered down reflection of what Pocher were originally about, and is the same reason why MFH sales are at an all time high who are delivering mega detail kits.

Pocher in my opinion need to equal or better the likes of MFH if they are to regain the reputation they had years ago. Right now its just a watered down version without the wow factor. Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

I'm a big fan of Pocher and although they aren't perfect and the instructions are diabolical they have a certain charm about them.
I totally agree about too many Aventador repaints and would like to see more classic cars as well as some modern ones done. I also think that Pocher should be applauded for producing the Ducati which apart from the Volvo truck is a huge move away from cars.
I hope they stay in business and go on to produce many more models.

The Duke is a cool kit and would be good to see one or two other bikes added

I don't think Pocher really need to re-release the old kits. BUT - I think they missed the boat by not following was is/was clearly a working formula.
The Bentley blower. ANY of the 50's/60's sports/race cars. Aston DBR 1/2/3, C Type D type Jaguars. Maserati's, Alfa's, Ferrari's... The list goes on.
There are SO many classics they could have looked at. OK, licensing is now an issue but if they can afford Lamborghini, surely they could afford some of the other classics.
THAT'S what Pocher were all about - what they are famous for, and still sought after for. WHY is the old Bugatti kit still selling for over £1000???
It's because people WANT it.

Pocher had the old Merc 300 SL gullwing on their site last year listed as a "future release". It was taken down soon after.
This would no doubt have been the old version made by eaglemoss or Hachette, I can't remember.
However they have obviously realised that the quality of the fitment of parts was terrible so they may be re tooling it for future release.
Now that is a model I would go for if it was manufactured to the right standard.

Just found this picture at last years Nurenburg toy fair. [ ][/img] If they did eventually produce it, wouldn't it look nice next to the E Type.

Though they had planned the Huracan for 2017 which is seemingly on hold, and its a big IF the E-type is produced
