Some time ago I purchased a really good building jig for model boats but it’s a little bit cumbersome when working on smaller models.
I had a look recently at ModelZone and found that they have now introduced a new building slip for smaller model ships.
These are made in Poland and while there are a few listed on eBay they tend to come from Germany and the like so work out more expensive than buying direct.
I placed my order a week ago and the parcel arrived safe and sound today. I paid £25.32 for the building board but you will find postage comes in quite expensive at just short of £15.00.
The unit has the following spec:
A base size: 60cm x 20cm
Can accommodate maximum length of keel: 60-80 cm ( Recommended length to 60 cm )
Allows the possibility of turning the kit 180 degrees. Which allows for other work to be done like for example planking.
I have attached a few pictures of the box contents and as soon as I get this one put together I will update again on how it all went together. sorry about the picture quality but it seems my camera is not happy tonight with the artificial lighting.
With the larger jig all of the component parts were already cut out for you but with this one you do have to remove a lot of the parts from the fret. Probable not a bad idea as it will stop any bits being lost in the post (although I must say the packing of this item was exceptional.
